Locked On Women's Basketball – Daily Podcast On The WNBA

Host Jackie Powell sits down with Washington Mystics rising star Shakira Austin to discuss her participation in the WNBA’s 2024 player marketing agreement (PMA) cohort. The pair first provide a refresher on what PMAs are and then dive into why Austin’s wanted to participate this year. Also, what are her goals as she dives into the program? And what does she want brands, corporations and her own fans to know about who the 6'5" Center is off the court?

Who is finding their footing with key players out? Who is underperforming and needs to get back on track quick? And then we need to dissect the new NCAA TV rights deal that includes women's basketball - what does it mean moving forward for the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament?

On today’s episode, host Hunter Cruse is joined by co-hosts Em Adler and Lincoln Shafer for an in-depth, somewhat nerdy conversation on player development. For instance, what skills are innate in prospects? And on the opposite end, what skills are teachable? The trio answers those two questions and more.

The Aces will win back-to-back titles for the first time in over two decades and Jonquel Jones will be traded, those were two correct bold predictions that Alex Simon made for women’s basketball in 2023 over a year ago. Host Jackie Powell sits down with Alex, sports editor at SFGate, to go through the same exercise a year later. The pair look ahead to 2024 in women's basketball and make bold predictions starting from WNBA free agency, which is right around the corner, all the way through the NCAA Tournament, the WNBA Draft and then finally the WNBA Finals.

One of the most consequential games of the women's basketball season took place when USC and UCLA met up on Dec. 30, and Cameron Ruby, a reporter at The Next, was there. She takes host Howard Megdal and the audience inside both the record-setting crowd and what we learned about both of these Pac-12 title contenders, particularly Juju Watkins of USC and Lauren Betts of UCLA. The two also discuss some early surprises in the conference, including Oregon State, and then they wax poetic about the greatness of Alissa Pili of Utah.
