'Lectio' first appears as a discipline in the 6th and 7th century when St. Benedict of Nursia and his monks began to translate and transcribe the scriptures, evolving into an exegetical practice of meditation and contemplation. In the popular culture, it is common for one to see religious and science, faith and reason as opposed to each other. The premise is: reality is about the visible reality, religion speaks of an invisible reality, therefore, religion does not speak about reality. However, some of the most real things are non-visible, namely ideas, love, the soul, etc. By pushing religion to a side, or putting faith to a side, the driving force of truth becomes reason; And, while the Church cheers reason on, she cautions about limiting oneself to it.
