Is fibromyalgia real? What is fibromyalgia?

Is fibromyalgia just depression? Is it a mental health condition? is it all in your head?

Or is fibromyalgia a connective tissue disorder, making collagen and joints weak and painful? Is it safe to exercise with fibromyalgia?

Or perhaps it's neither of these things... Maybe fibromyalgia is a multifactorial condition that deserves respect and understanding.

This can lead to fear of exercise, disability, and higher pain levels.

What is the root cause of chronic pain? Is it even possible to identify a single root cause of chronic pain or chronic illness? The biopsychosocial model helps explain that pain is multifactorial and that we need to broaden our understanding of pain and health. Rarely is low back pain, knee pain, neck pain, or other chronic pain simply due to a single cause like a disc herniation, or a pinched nerve. There are usually many other variables to account for.
