Turns out social media is proper crazy when you stop and think about it.
Hey everyone! So excited to share this episode with you all, it's one that I've been wanting to make for a while. This is ep2 of the 'life is an experiment series' - and it's been SUCH an interesting experiment.
Honestly I feel like we've really normalised sharing our lives online, interacting with other people's content or using social media as a distraction or a way to avoid discomfort. Taking a step back from it I'm starting to realise how much of a knock-on effect that it has on our *real-life* relationships. Yes there are loads of benefits, but does the internet have a net positive effect on our connection?
Huge shoutout to Megan Short's episode 'we are all third wheeling social media' which inspired me to do this - definitely go listen.
Another really interesting take on the internet is linked here - an interview from 1999 with David Bowie when he predicts the effect of the internet on our society.
If you do your own social media detox I'd love to hear about your experiences, email me [email protected] if you want an accountability buddy or to chat more about this.
Thank you so much for listening!!! Very grateful for you being here.
