  • Episode 21: The Continuum of Motherhood with Catarina Andrade
What if we started to see pregnancy, birth, the postpartum period and beyond as a continuum of motherhood? Instead of handling every part differently. In this episode I’m joined by Catarina Andrade, international speaker, laughter and kundalini yoga teacher, energy therapist, and mother to her biggest spiritual teacher, her son. In this episode we’ll explore bringing more awareness into our lives, even before we get pregnant or when we decide not to become a mother.

We talk about the energetic bond between mother and child and how that supports both you and you child. When you become aware this energetic bond there’s no need for mom guilt when you choose to care for yourself because you caring for yourself will also nourish your child. The energetic bond you have starts even before pregnancy and will continue long after the umbilical cord has been clamped. That’s why Catarina refers to it as a continuum of motherhood, rather than to see it in separate phases.
Catarina shares the work that she does, supporting overwhelmed mothers to feel more calm, confident, and connected to themselves, their loved ones, and their calling. Slinging a unique blend of spiritual and practical wisdom, she guides women to deepen their intuition, release mama guilt, and experience more ease, joy, and miracles in life and business. Part strategist and part alchemist, Catarina has supported hundreds of women in the areas of sacred pregnancy, conscious motherhood, and making a divine contribution without burning out.

  • Episode 20: Permission to release Perfection in Motherhood
In today’s society there’s so much pressure on getting everything right. You need to have a good job and spend enough time with your children. You need a clean house and an active social life. No wonder why so many mothers feel the stress of perfection in motherhood. In this episode we’re going to explore the root of this perfectionism and how to release it to live a happier and harmonious life.

We feel pressure from society, we feel pressure from friends but even the strongest and toughest pressure is the one from within. We put the bar high for ourselves to keep up with everything and everyone.
When we try to do it all, we do nothing. Let’s face it, multitasking doesn’t work. Taking the time to focus on one thing will help you to get things done faster and more efficient. By doing this you are able to release this need for perfection in motherhood because perfection doesn’t exist. I’m a strong believer of a realistic view, rather than ‘picture perfect’. In this episode I’ll explain my methods in letting go of this constant pressure I felt. And it all started with myself!

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    * Why I felt imperfect compared to others [1.25]
    * It’s important to look at your own expectations first [3.05]
    * My biggest pitfall was not understanding my needs [5.03]
    * The first step in healing my perfectionism [6:25]
    * The second step, harmony over perfection [8:15]
    * The third step, presence [10:48]
    * The fourth step, having a realistic view [12:50]
    * The last and most important step is often overlooked [15:02]
    * Why it’s crucial to know what you’re true desire looks like [16:55]
    * My last thoughts on this strive for perfection in motherhood

  • Episode 19: Astrology as a Parenting Tool
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to have a look inside your child’s head and see what’s going on? What if I tell you that there is a tool for that! Enter: Astrology! Even before your child knows how to communicate you’re able to know what is happening. Did that spike your interest? Listen to this episode to find out how you can use the power of astrology as a parenting tool to know and understand your child better.

Motherhood is a wild ride with unexpected turns. Honestly, I wouldn’t want it any other way, but there is a way to gain more insight into your children. Sometimes it might feel like your child is so unpredictable.
A lot has to do with our own needs and expectation. If we put ourselves in their shoes more often we would understand that they perceive the world very differently. Adding astrology as a parenting tool will not only help you to understand them better but it also allows them to express their authentic self. Children love to please their parents and when they have a softer personality they will do anything. Won’t it be nice if you knew what their patterns and tendencies are so you can guide them in the most supportive way?
In this episode I explain how astrology works for you and your children and how to use that knowledge to add to your parenting tool!

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    * Demystifying newspaper and magazine horoscopes [0:41]
    * Why there are no negative of positive energies in astrology [3:47]
    * How does an Aries Sun and a Capricorn Sun expresses itself? [4:26]
    * What changes when your Moon sign is in Aries? [7:54]
    * How different is a Capricorn Moon? [8:44]
    * The importance of knowing your Rising Sign [9:43]
    * What information lays in your child’s Rising Sign? [13:38]
    * Understanding your child’s true needs is fundamental [16:30]

  • Episode 14: Real Life Stories – Playfulness to Overcome Postpartum Depression with Katie Callahan
This week I’m joined by a special guest Katie Callahan, who is brave enough to share her story into motherhood and ways to overcome postpartum depression. She’s a mother of two who experienced a postpartum depression after her second was born. She was able to turn the tie and change the way she looked at motherhood and life in general.

When most people think about a postpartum depression, they think about first time moms who are insecure about their mothering skills and don’t know if they’re doing it right. But the reality is that postpartum depressions don’t just happen to first time moms. I personally had a wonderful postpartum period after my first was born, but when my second arrived, my world collapsed. A deep and dark postpartum depression came over me and took over.

    Overcome Postpartum Depression
Katie’s story is an inspiring story of how she was able to recognize what was going on. It wasn’t until she stopped breastfeeding her son that she realised how she’d neglected her emotional body. Katie shares how she found ways to care better for herself and therefore be a better mom.
To overcome postpartum depression it takes time and sometimes it feels like a continuous journey. Katie takes us into her way of letting go of the control by allowing playfulness into her life. The more she surrendered to the current moment the more she’s able to embrace and enjoy the present moment.
Surrendering is a big theme when it comes to overcome postpartum depression. It’s letting go of your expectation on a deep level and knowing that it’s all taken care of and okay. Katie is an amazing example of how to take your own responsibilities and heal through it!
Tune in to this week’s episode and learn how you can use her tips to lift your own mood up!

  • Episode 13: Grounding Meditation
We’re let to believe we should use our heads all the time and use logic to navigate this life. In this masculine driven society it might considered normal, but it’s not! We have deep roots going into the earth, feeding and nourishing us. Reconnect with your roots with this grounding meditation and stay strong even when life gets hectic and chaotic.

Is your head in clouds? Do you feel like you’re floating, but not in a good way? Do you feel overwhelmed just thinking about all the daily tasks ahead?
A good chance that you’re not grounded and results in feeling adrift. If you have a lot on your plate it’s easy to feel lost. Instead of going into overdrive and do nothing as a result of your ever growing to-do list, try to take a step back, breathe and connect back with your roots. A grounding meditation can help you to reset your energy and reset your thought.

    Grounding Meditation
Meditation doesn’t mean sitting still for hours and not think of anything. A short meditation is beneficial already. And don’t worry about not thinking about anything, that’s not the main focus. In this grounding meditation I’ll guide your thoughts towards a more calm and peaceful place. It’s okay if thoughts keep coming up, just gentle notice them and bring your awareness back to the meditation and my voice. You’ll notice the more you meditate the easier it will be to keep your mind from drifting away.
Find a calm and quiet place to sit down. Light a candle and dim the lights.
To enhance the experience of the meditation, please feel free to use essential oils. I like to use grounding oils like Cedarwood, Sandalwood or Vetiver and place a few drops on the bottom of my feet.
Come to a comfortable seat, whether that is on a meditation cushion, yoga mat or on a chair, make sure your spine is up right.

  • Episode 12: Self Worth and Pleasure
When we talk about birth, babies and the fourth trimester we can’t disregard our pleasures and desires. We don’t like to talk about it and we feel ashamed when it’s not working for us. That’s exactly why I invited this week’s guest Lacey Broussard. She’s a sex, love and relationship coach and she emphasizes how self worth and pleasure is tied to fear and guilt.

Does this topic make blush, then keep reading because you don’t want to miss this. Intimacy isn’t the first thing on your mind after having a baby and it doesn’t have to be. It takes time to heal and recover. There’s no set time for that, but at one point you will come back to that place of pleasure and it’s all tied in with you feelings of self worth.
Lacey explains why pleasure is a priority. Thousands of years ago they already understood pleasure as a source of energy. If you allow pleasure in your life your energy levels will start to rise. Allowing yourself to experience pleasure without expecting the outside world to provide it for you.
We’re so caught up in the “Stuff” based age that we don’t value essential care. As we’re moving into an “Experience” based age, the awareness is starting to grow but still not everybody has woken up. Lacey goes into why, for that reason, it is so important to have a tribe around you who values the same things as you. This relate to your birth, your postpartum but also beyond that. Unconditional support!

    Self Worth and Pleasure
If you understand your self worth then there’s no question about pleasure because you know you deserve it. Self-care is something we talked about before here, but it continues to come as an essential part of embracing your true power.
Acknowledge the healing and by melting away the shame and fear of being intimate when you know your body. Yes, you’ve changed but that doesn’t mean you can’t rediscover your changed body! The stigma and shame women are put through is shocking, but you also hold the power to break through the cycle by claiming your own sexuality.
I’ve mentioned it before, other guests have mentioned it and Lacey also stresses how crucial it is to share your birth experience because by doing so, much healing is already taking place. Knowing what your story was like, whether you had the birth you wanted or it didn’t go as planned, sharing it helps you to heal. Owning your story will help you to stay connected to your body.
The relationship you have with your body and with yourself is the most important relationship. Nourish that relationship, care for yourself. Know that you are worth it!
