Welcome to Day 1 of our "7-Day Mini Medicine Series!"
In this solo episodes, I share my knowledge and advice on how to better supplement our bodies with proteins and amino acids to create a stronger and healthier structure for our body's system. We learn about the purpose and process of these two supplements and how they hold a high standard in my daily diet.
Proteins are large, complex molecules that are essential for the structure and function of cells, tissues, and organs in our bodies. Proteins are composed of smaller units called amino acids. These amino acids are linked together in a specific sequence, creating what looks like the structure of a chain. Proteins also play a role in numerous biological processes, such as enzyme catalysis (meaning catalyzing or increasing rate of chemical reactions by these proteins known as enzymes), transportation of molecules, immune response, and muscle contraction.
Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) are a specific group of amino acids that have a branched molecular structure. The 3 BCAAs are leucine, isoleucine, and valine. They are considered essential amino acids because the body cannot produce them and must obtain them through diet or supplementation.
