Alicia Duncan is the co-founder and principal designer of AR Interiors, a political and mental health advocate, and a devoted mom and stepmom to four.  Her life took an unexpected turn on October 21st, 2021 when her mother chose to end her life through Medical Assistance in Dying, also known as MAiD. Questioning the lawfulness of her death, Alicia and her sister sparked the first police investigation into a MAiD death in Canada, garnering international media attention. Since then, Alicia and her sister have become unwitting authorities on the subject of MAID, political advocates surrounding mental health, and are featured in the upcoming BBC documentary, “Better Off Dead?”Their opinions have been sought by the Canadian Parliament, as the country expands the availability of MAID, to include patients who are mentally ill. Alicia’s upcoming memoir, "The Other Side of the Straight Jacket: A Journey Through Mental Health and the Flaws of Medical Assistance in Dying,” is set to release in 2024.
