Feeling weak or powerless? 2 Peter 1:3-4 shows how God's promises give you everything for life and godliness

    About This Episode

Do you feel weak or powerless? Do you feel like you can't walk in freedom? In this episode, Aaron and Jennifer Smith encourage you from the Word of God, working through 2 Peter 1:3-4. About This Episode

How did you come to know the Lord? In this episode, Aaron and Jennifer Smith share their personal salvation stories. Aaron recounts a late-night conversation with God in his car at seventeen and a half, when God asked him who would attend his funeral and what they would say about him, a moment that led him to walk away from smoking, cursing, and drinking. Jennifer shares how she knew God from a young age, dedicated her life to Him at thirteen, and was baptized. Together they remind us that it's not our testimonies that matter but the Lord's testimony in our lives, and they share how their shared faith became the foundation of their marriage.

  • Our First Home Birth During A Global Pandemic?? The Story
COVID changed the hospital plan at the last minute: the story of baby Edith's surprise home birth

    About This Episode

Aaron and Jennifer Smith start season four by sharing the story of their first home birth, which happened in the middle of the COVID pandemic. They had planned a hospital birth but held that plan open-handed, and when hospital protocols changed at the last minute, God opened the door for a home birth with a midwife who normally didn't take late clients. Jennifer shares how she prayed for a different person through each contraction, including children facing abuse during lockdown, and how she worshiped through labor, singing In Christ Alone as baby Edith arrived on her due date, with four-year-old Olive encouraging her. It's a story of trusting that many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

  • What Does Moses and The Burning Bush Have To Do With The Gospel?
Why a bush that burned but was never consumed pictures the gospel, and why the story is about God, not us

    About This Episode

In this devotional episode, Aaron and Jennifer Smith have a fun conversation about the experience Moses had with the Lord at the burning bush. Reading the Old Testament and the many miraculous things God has done over history is a powerful way to see who God is and His plan for redemption even from the beginning. Drawing from their family Bible study practice of looking for Christ in Old Testament stories, they show how God initiated with Moses while he was hiding, why the bush that was not consumed is a picture of God as a purifying fire, what it means to take off your sandals on holy ground, and why Moses saw himself as a question while God saw Himself as the answer.

    About Aaron & Jennifer Smith

Aaron and Jennifer Smith are the founders of Marriage After God and authors of Husband After God, Wife After God, and Marriage After God. Married since 2007 and raising six children in Bend, Oregon, they started Husband Revolution and Unveiled Wife to share what God was teaching them, not from a place of having it figured out, but as fellow travelers pointing couples back to Jesus.

Why the Old Testament matters — seeing who God is and His plan for redemption from the beginning
Finding Christ in the Old Testament — a family Bible study practice
God initiates salvation — He came to Moses while Moses was hiding as a murderer
The angel of the Lord — understood as the pre-incarnate Christ
A bush not consumed — man as dust, surrounded by God as a purifying, not destroying, fire
Holy ground — taking off your sandals means laying down self-protection and good works
Who am I? — Moses saw himself as a question, and God saw Himself as the answer, I AM

  • The Power Of Touch In Marriage
Why a simple, non-sexual touch interrupts the day to say I love you, and how it builds unity even in conflict
