  • How To Cultivate deep and meaningful friendships
Why deep friendships aren't optional for believers, and how to push through conflict instead of running

    About This Episode

Aaron and Jennifer love friendship, and God has provided real, deep friendships in many places throughout their marriage. Prompted by questions from their friend Cody, they talk about why deep friendships within the body of Christ are a necessity rather than an option, because believers cannot live as floating islands. Every friendship took time, and each one seemed to have a hard moment that gave them the chance to press on in love. They name conflict as the hardest part and the urge to run away, admit mistakes they have made, and push back on selfish, comfort-only friendships by pointing to Jesus, who invited all twelve disciples, including Judas. They share practical ways to go deeper, from asking honest questions to apologizing quickly.

    About Aaron & Jennifer Smith

Aaron and Jennifer Smith are the founders of Marriage After God and authors of Husband After God, Wife After God, and Marriage After God. Married since 2007 and raising six children in Bend, Oregon, they started Husband Revolution and Unveiled Wife to share what God was teaching them, not from a place of having it figured out, but as fellow travelers pointing couples back to Jesus.

  • Walking in Victory From Pornography In Marriage
How Aaron found lasting freedom by believing he was already free in Christ, and how trust was rebuilt

    About This Episode

Pornography is all too common these days, and sadly it is common even among believers. In this episode, Aaron shares how he has been able to walk in freedom from this addiction for more than six years. The turning point was belief: while he believed he was a slave to porn he stayed enslaved, but when he realized he was already free in Christ, he could recognize sin as a choice he was able to refuse. Jennifer opens up about the insecurity, anger, and broken trust it brought into their marriage and how trust was rebuilt through honest, quick confession. They also talk about how to prepare and protect children from this destructive sin, including guarding their eyes, setting device boundaries, and presenting sex as a good, God-given gift.

Biblical wisdom on money, debt, and contentment when inflation hits, and how we talk about crypto as a couple

    About This Episode

Money and finances are some of the most fought-over issues in marriage, and with inflation and the cost of living climbing, the pressure is real. Aaron and Jennifer make it clear this is not financial advice but encouragement to get couples talking about how God wants us to think about and respond to money. They share anchor verses they lean on when making financial decisions, recall seasons of debt and seasons of living on very little, and explain why believers should not love debt. They talk honestly about the tension husbands feel between trusting God and providing for a family, and why blaming each other makes financial strain worse. They also explain cryptocurrency in simple terms and share how they approach any investment together.

  • Peace in Marriage: How to Pace Yourself and Avoid Burnout
Why coming out hot leads to burnout, and six ways to find a sustainable pace that brings peace home

    About This Episode

Every marriage, including Aaron and Jennifer's, desires peace. Ultimately peace comes from Christ Himself, but there is also a kind of peace that comes from having a good and healthy pace in life. Bad routines, trying to do too much at once, and lofty expectations of ourselves or others can push us into an unsustainable pace, and they admit they are there right now. Drawing on what Jennifer learned coaching rowing and CrossFit about reserving energy for longevity, they talk through practical ways to find a healthier rhythm, including keeping the main thing the main thing and making room for rest the way Jesus told His disciples to rest. Aaron's flooded-garage story is a reminder that small, consistent steps beat large jumps of change.

Don't start out full force — reserve your energy for longevity
Make a priority list — keep the main thing the main thing and cut off outliers
Include rest — the Sabbath and Jesus telling His disciples to rest
Be patient — leave room for disruptions
Don't compare — comparison steals joy
Check expectations — set realistic, communicated expectations to avoid disappointment
The flooded garage — what happens when you try to do too many things at once
Weekly challenge — do a workout together

  • Keeping Marriage Strong During Life Transitions
Ten months, 30+ places, and a house build: what kept our marriage strong through a season of change

    About This Episode

Our marriages are not exempt from the transitions and seasons of life. Returning after a year-and-a-half hiatus, Aaron and Jennifer recap a 10-month transition of selling their home, building a new one, and living nomadically across more than 30 places. They talk about unexpected circumstances and high-stress seasons, and how emotional breakdowns and dropped routines are not evidence of a weak marriage but a test of its strength. They credit prayer, friends, validation, and remembering they chose this path for carrying them through. When we walk through transitions together and with Christ, they become opportunities for our unity, strength, and faith to grow, because God cares more about our character than our comfort.

  • Jesus Is Our Passover: How Jesus Fulfilled the Passover Feast
From the lamb's blood to the hidden afikomen, how every part of the Passover feast points to Jesus

    About This Episode

As Passover and Easter approach, Aaron and Jennifer share how Jesus Himself fulfilled the Passover feast in His life, death, and resurrection. Walking through Exodus 12, they show how the elements of the feast align with the life of Christ: the lamb's blood on the doorposts and lintel, the unleavened bread, the afikomen that is broken, wrapped, and hidden, the bitter herbs, and the four cups of wine. They trace the events of Holy Week alongside the Passover timeline, from the lamb being selected on Palm Sunday to Jesus dying at 3pm as the Passover lambs were slain. As the Season 5 finale, they close by sharing what they are grateful for in their 14 years of marriage. The feast is merely a shadow, but He is the substance.

  • Are We Living In The Last Days?
Why end-times prophecy should fill believers with hope, not fear, and which signs are worth watching

    About This Episode

You can't turn on the TV or open social media without seeing increasing distress and chaos around the world, and many people are wondering about the fragile state of our world. But Christians have a hope that goes beyond this world, a hope that is everlasting. In this episode, Aaron and Jennifer discuss the end times and how believers should think about it, opening with the Hebrew word qavah, hope, pictured as a cord twisted together under tension. They encourage testing every teacher against Scripture, look at how Jesus fulfilled Daniel's seventy-weeks prophecy, and talk through current signs involving Israel and Jerusalem. The goal is not fear but urgency to share the gospel, a posture of repentance like Daniel's, and encouragement from the promise that believers are not destined for wrath.

  • Why What We Believe Is So Important
Knowing the Bible isn't the same as believing it: how lies take root and how truth sets us free

    About This Episode

What do we believe? The answer explains why we do certain things, why we remain in certain sins, and why we treat people, and ourselves, the way we do. In this episode we frame the mind as a battlefield and look at Eve in the garden, who added "neither shall you touch it" to God's command and believed the serpent's lie, and at Jesus, who answered every temptation with Scripture. Aaron shares how knowing the Bible's truth about freedom didn't break his pornography addiction until he stopped believing he was still in bondage. If you say you believe something and your decisions don't reflect it, you don't actually believe it. Believe lies and you will walk in lies; believe the truth and you will walk in freedom and power.

  • 6 Tips For Building A Strong Marriage
What gutting a fixer-upper taught us about foundations, humility, intimacy, and forgiveness in marriage

    About This Episode

In this episode we share six ways to help you build a stronger and more vibrant marriage, one that can withstand the schemes of the enemy and be useful in building the Kingdom of God together. We use the gut renovation of our abandoned fixer-upper as a picture, from the rain pouring through the torn-off roof to the foundation pour we had the company redo. The tips: keep your marriage Christ-centered, read the Bible daily, walk in humility, pursue intimacy, communicate well, and love and forgive. This isn't about perfection; it's a heart posture of building forward in the Holy Spirit's power, because unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.

Tip 2: Read the Bible daily — eating the Word like Ezekiel's scroll
Tip 3: Walk in humility — why you can't fight with a humble person
Tip 4: Pursue intimacy — physical, emotional, and spiritual
Tip 5: Communicate well — choosing to overlook an offense
Tip 6: Love and forgive — building forward in the Spirit's power, not perfection
