  • Family Bible Time: The How-To Guide for Fostering Unity and Faith
Deuteronomy 6 in real life: camping chairs, a chapter a day, simple questions, and trusting the Word.

    About This Episode

Family Bible time can transform a home, but it takes diligence. In this episode we share how we lead Bible time with our kids and why we believe it should be a daily, lifestyle-wide pursuit rather than a once-a-week event. Anchored in Deuteronomy 6, we talk about why parents need to be in the Word themselves, and visibly so, so their children see it. Then we get practical: how we read with our kids, the simple questions we ask to reinforce what they heard, and how we handle adult content in Scripture with young children. Most of all, we are reminded that God's Word is living and powerful, and it does the work.

    About Aaron & Jennifer Smith

Aaron and Jennifer Smith are the founders of Marriage After God and authors of Husband After God, Wife After God, and Marriage After God. Married since 2007 and raising six children in Bend, Oregon, they started Husband Revolution and Unveiled Wife to share what God was teaching them, not from a place of having it figured out, but as fellow travelers pointing couples back to Jesus.

    In This Episode

Diligence in Bible study — Making Scripture an intentional, consistent, daily pursuit.
Deuteronomy 6 at home — Talking about God's Word when you sit, walk, lie down, and rise.
Lead by example — Why kids need to see their parents in the Word, not just on a phone.
Our rhythm — Reading about a chapter a day chronologically, with the kids in camping chairs.
Simple questions — Short recall questions that reinforce the main stories and characters.
Read with expression — An idea we took from Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life.
Navigating adult content — Skipping or simplifying passages and genealogies that aren't age-appropriate.
The power of the Word — Trusting Scripture to grow faith in you and your children.

  • Why Your Marriage Needs Christian Community and Fellowship
Why isolation keeps couples stuck, and what Romans 12 says about being members of one another.

    About This Episode

Christian community isn't optional for a thriving marriage. In this episode we share how being part of a Christian community has shaped our marriage and personal growth, from leading a marriage group to being carried by brothers and sisters through hard seasons like postpartum. We talk about how a round-table marriage ministry, where couples were honest with each other, broke the isolation that kept us stuck, and why sin that stays hidden is so much easier to keep doing. We look at what Romans 12 says about being members of one another: serving, encouraging, speaking the truth in love, and not neglecting to meet together. If you and your spouse feel disconnected from community, this is an encouragement to evaluate your part in the body.

Community is necessary — Why fellowship is essential for a healthy, thriving Christian marriage.
Breaking isolation — How honest, round-table fellowship with other couples helped heal our marriage.
Members of one another — Our responsibility to brothers and sisters in the body of Christ.
Carried through hard seasons — How our community supported us through postpartum.
Serving transforms us — Why looking outward instead of inward changes our hearts.
Accountability — Speaking the truth in love, and being willing to be called out ourselves.
Finding community — Look for believers who are local and willing to hold you accountable.
A challenge — Read Romans 12 with your spouse and ask what your responsibility is.

  • My Husband Is An Extrovert and I'm an Introvert How We Navigate It Biblically
An introvert wife and an extrovert husband on dying to self without making personality an excuse.

    About This Episode

It is common in marriage for one spouse to be an extrovert and the other an introvert, and even when you share the same traits, it can be a challenge to understand and meet each other's needs. Jennifer recharges in solitude and Aaron recharges around people, so we share from our own experience of navigating it. Our opposite personalities bring balance, but we've learned they can't become an excuse that lets us off the hook from hospitality, community, or dying to self. We talk about putting each other first, how serving the other's needs actually refreshes us, and why watching and communicating each other's state matters. No part of our identity should be off limits to God.

Opposites in marriage — Jennifer the introvert and Aaron the extrovert, and how we recharge differently.
Balance, not excuses — Why personality can't justify avoiding hospitality or community.
Putting your spouse first — Philippians 2:3 and the golden rule (Luke 6:31) in everyday choices.
Saying no to the flesh — How giving Jennifer downtime actually re-energizes Aaron to bless her.
Stretching toward others — Jennifer on growing in hospitality and spontaneity.
Love doesn't insist on its own way — What 1 Corinthians 13 says about our preferences.
Paying attention — Watching for and communicating each other's state.

  • Goal Setting: Why It's Good For Your Marriage
What 11 years of yearly goal setting taught us about unity, communication, and holding plans loosely.

    About This Episode

Setting goals with your spouse is one of the best ways to cultivate hopefulness and togetherness. Knowing your purpose and what you are working on as a team builds unity in marriage. After 11 years of setting goals together every year, we share why goal setting has been so good for our marriage: it builds security, forces us to communicate, and invites us to sacrifice for each other. We walk through the practical side, from using date nights to set and check in on goals, to writing them down where we will see them, to celebrating the wins. Most importantly, we talk about committing our plans to the Lord and holding them with open hands.

Why set goals together — Security, communication, unity, and self-sacrifice in marriage.
Use your date nights — Casting vision and checking in on goals over date night.
Write it down — Posting goals somewhere visible, like a whiteboard or mirror.
Break it down — Turning big goals into weekly and monthly tasks.
Where to start — Individual passions, business, spiritual life, marriage and intimacy, and finances.
Celebrate the wins — Marking victories together along the way.
If the Lord wills — Committing plans to God and letting Him redirect or shelve them.

  • Silent Treatment in Marriage: 3 Games to Never Play With Your Spouse
The silent treatment, retaliation, and word games: three habits that quietly poison a Christian marriage.

    About This Episode

We have a little fun at the beginning of this episode talking about our favorite family games, but only as a segue into the real topic: three very dangerous emotional and manipulative games that are all too common in marriage. The silent treatment, retaliation or revenge, and word games show up in many different ways, and we had learned to be very good at playing all of them with each other, until God got hold of our hearts. There is no place for them in a Christian marriage, and left unchecked they can cost us a healthy marriage or worse. We haven't perfected avoiding them, but we are much better at recognizing them quickly and repenting often.

Games we love — A few of our favorite family board games before we get to the real topic.
Game #1: The silent treatment — A manipulative game many couples fall into, and what Scripture says instead.
Quick to hear, slow to speak — What James 1:19-20 and Ephesians 4:32 teach us about anger and kindness.
Game #2: Retaliation — Why paying back hurt with hurt has no place in a Christian marriage.
Living at peace — Romans 12:16-18 and choosing peace with your spouse.
Game #3: Word games — Why our words carry so much weight, from Proverbs 18:21.
Recognize and repent — Catching these games quickly and turning from them often.

    Scripture Referenced

  • Our Marriage Story: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
Four years of painful intimacy, a hidden porn addiction, near divorce, and the grace that restored us.

    About This Episode

Sharing the intimate and painful parts of our marriage story was not easy at first, but over time we realized our transparency helps other couples find hope, both that they are not alone in their struggles and that God can restore brokenness in marriage. In this episode we share how we met, getting married, those first few hard years, and how God walked us through healing from painful sex and pornography. We talk about the bitterness that nearly ended our marriage, the church marriage ministry where honest couples changed everything, and the surprising physical discovery that brought relief. Love stories are unique, but every marriage has its good, bad, and ugly, and sharing those stories can be powerful in the lives of others.

An unexpected discovery — Parabens in a face wash, and the change that followed.

Pregnant with our fourth: three real fears about a growing family and the Scriptures that answer them.

    About This Episode

Have you ever been fearful of having more children, or even having your first? You are not alone. In this episode we talk about three honest fears that came up in light of our fourth pregnancy: not being able to handle the demands of our home, missing out on time with the kids we already have, and losing personal time. We navigate these new waters for a growing family through Scripture and the realities of what it means to have a large family. Aaron shares how a husband can create a safe home and lead spiritually through a season like this. Our heart is to walk alongside you, as we are also learning a biblical mindset of children and parenting.

  • 6 Callings God Has For Your Marriage
Prayer, love, forgiveness, trust, purity, and generosity: the six callings every Christian marriage shares.

    About This Episode

This week we highlight six callings God has for every marriage: prayer, love, forgiveness, trust, purity, and generosity. Lots of people wonder what their calling is, but we believe every Christian marriage already has a specific purpose. We share personal stories and struggles from our own marriage, the importance of each calling, and how each one impacts the marriage relationship and beyond. For each calling we share Scripture, testimony, and application. These callings are foundational for marriages to experience something extraordinary. Our hope is that couples would evaluate their marriage to see where they are excelling and where they need to grow. We hope this first episode is both encouraging and challenging.

What is a calling? — Why every marriage has a specific purpose, not just individuals.
Prayer — How Aaron's faithful nightly prayers helped save our marriage.
Love — Love as a command, not just a feeling.
Forgiveness — How withholding forgiveness can become a tool to control your spouse.
Trust — Trusting God with your spouse, and tearing down walls to build a bridge.
Purity — How impurity damages intimacy, and the freedom Christ offers.
