Many times, the small things in life, which we often ignore, are more important than the ones that we consider far more valuable.

In his song, he insists on the fact that the expression of love plays a significant role in a relationship.

However,any people seem to ignore this fact and assume that love can be expressed through wealth and riches.

In his song, Kenny Rogers narrates the story of a wife whose husband loves her very much.

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

一个人工作到很晚，带着疲惫与愤怒回到家里，却发现5岁大的儿子正在门口等他。



"Daddy. May l ask you a question?'

爸爸，我可以问你一个问题吗?"



"Yeah sure, what is it?" replied the man.

“当然，什么问题?”



"Daddy, how much do you make an hour?'

爸爸，你一个小时赚多少钱?"



"That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?" the man said angrily.

“这不关你的事。怎么问这样一个问题?"父亲生气地说道。



"I just want to know. Please tell me how much do you make an hour?"pleaded the little boy.

“我只是想知道，请告诉我吧，你一个小时赚多少钱?"小男孩乞求地说。



"lf you must know,I make $20 an hour!'

真想知道就告诉你吧，我一小时赚20美元。”



"Oh," the little boy replied with his head down.Looking up he said"Daddy may I please borrow $10?"

The father was furious "If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense

then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed.Think about why you are being so selfish.I work hard everyday for this childish behavior."

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions.

How dare he ask such questions only to get some money? After about an hour or so

the man had calmed down and started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $10 and he really didn't ask for money very often.

The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

"Are you asleep son?" He asked'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling."Oh thank you daddy!" He yelled.

Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.

The man seeing that the boy already had money started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at his father.

"Because I didn't have enough but now l do"the little boy replied.

Because of the shame and stigma of the black dog, I was constantly worried about being found out.

Having a black dog in your life is not so much about feeling a bit down, sad or blue.

At its worst, it is about being devoid of feeling altogether.

As I grew older, black dog got bigger and he started hanging around all the time.

I chased them off with whatever I thought might send him running.

But more often than not, he would come out on top.

Going down became easier than getting up again.

So I became rather good at self-medication which never really helped.

Eventually, I felt totally isolated from everything and everyone.

When you lose all joy in life, you can begin to question what the point of it is.

Thankfully this was time when I sought professional help.

This was my first step towards recovery and was a major turning point in my life.

I learnt that it does not matter who you are, the black dog affects millions and millions of people. It is an equal opportunity mongrel.

I also learnt that there was no silver bullet or magic pill.
我还了解到不存在万能灵药或魔法药丸。


Medication can help some and others might need different approach altogether.

I also learnt that being emotionally genuine or authentic to those who close to you can be an absolute game changer.
我还了解到，向亲近的人表达出自己的真实感情能起到关键的疗效。



Most importantly I learnt not to be afraid of black dog and taught him a few tricks of my own.
最重要的是，我学会不再害怕黑狗，甚至向它耍了一些自己的花招。



The more tired or stressed you are the louder he barks.
你越是疲劳和紧张，它就叫的越凶。



So it is important to learn how to quiet your mind.
所以学会让自己平静下来很重要。



It's been clinically proven that regular exercise can be as effective for treating mild to moderate depression as antidepressants.

So go for a walk or run and leave the mutt behind.

Summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words.

Summer is the glorious time of the year when most of us can put on our shorts and short-sleeved shirts and actually feel the air and sunlight on our skin; when we don't have to turn up the heat in the morning when we get up; but also when we lay hot and sweaty in bed, unable to sleep at times (those of us who don't have air conditioning, anyway); when we get the sunburn and the heatstroke and all those wonderful things.

I started early, took my dog,
