Shoppers in the grocery aisles are questioning more and more where the food they are purchasing is coming from, how it was grown or produced, and in some cases, were the animals used raised healthfully and compassionately. They’re asking what it means if something is labeled organic? Why is some milk marketed as hormone free? Farmers, who produce the food, often take offense at the consumer scrutiny and questions.
There’s no need to have food fights in the grocery aisles. “No More Food Fights” provides a fresh look at some of the dilemmas food buyers and farmers both face.
Whether it’s animal welfare, biotechnology, food safety, or the benefits of eating organic, No More Food Fights! encourages a civil discourse rather than heated arguments. The conversation becomes rather lopsided and self-serving – causing the plate to go off kilter if it’s about farm versus food.
This week we talk with Michele Payn-Knoper, one of North America’s leading farm and food advocates. She has helped thousands of people in agricultural, dietetic, and food audiences connect the farm gate to the food plate through her website www.CauseMatters.com.
Tune in as we discuss the four points to help you make decisions about your food choices that you can feel good about. As always, you’ll find lots of recipes, healthy eating, and cooking tips on Chef Tom’s blog, The Confidence Diet.

This week we talk with Nancy S. Hughes, author of “The 4 Ingredient Diabetes Cookbook”. Just because it is aimed at diabetics, doesn’t mean you’ll sacrifice taste or nutrition.

Do you really need to have your own Guru? We have all thrown the term around. Typically we take it to mean an “expert”. Well, if we consider a Guru as someone with certain experience to share, then that definition is pretty much on the mark. After all the root of the two words is the same.
So what can a Guru offer us? How about insight, guidance, and experience that others have learned from. When you think about it, you probably have many people in your life that play the role of Guru in one way or another. (Hopefully you consider “Menu For Great Health” as your wellness Guru).
Why reinvent the wheel when you can benefit from a Guru? A good one can offer solutions on many topics and life issues. For example, making cooking magical, or 10 minutes to tasty meals. Revealing perspectives you had not previously considered is the mark of a hip Guru.
This week we talk with Swami Tirtha, author of the book “The Stress Free College Student”. With over 40 years of experience in the wellness field Swami Tirtha has much to share indeed. You can learn more about him at www.thehipgurusguide.com.
Tune in as we visit with a bona-fide Guru and learn how to make magic in the kitchen. As always, you’ll find lots of recipes, healthy eating, and cooking tips on Chef Tom’s blog, The Confidence Diet.

If you ever felt you would like to have more positive experiences in your life and stimulate your own creativity, you can start by focusing on feeling happier. Haven’t you noticed how good things happen to you when you are feeling happy? Ever notice how when you start complaining you turn into a “crap magnet” and end up with more and more to complain about?
Rather than seek out that perfect car, home, job, or partner to make you happy, start by being happy with what you already have. When we recognize that happiness comes from within ourselves versus from external factors, the goal of being happy becomes much more achievable.
Some key characteristics of happy people are that they are grateful, kind, and willing to be of service. The Dali Lama tells us that service can be as simple as holding a door for someone, or offering a smile; you don’t have to join the Peace Corps. Gratitude can begin with small things like a warm bed or sunny day. Once we find one thing to be grateful for the list tends to grow.
This week we talk with Mike Ferry, author of the book “Teaching Happiness and Innovation”. Mike offers simple exercises and foods you can incorporate to promote happiness and support brain function.
Tune in as we learn how to better move toward having experiences that bring a smile to your face. As always, you’ll find lots of recipes, healthy eating, and cooking tips on Chef Tom’s blog, The Confidence Diet.

For some people, having a work schedule that dominates their life is a badge of honor. Our culture praises over-working. Too often, we pay with our health. Many of us want to embrace healthy habits but feel so overwhelmed that we just fall back into old patterns.
When life becomes fast paced, it can seem daunting to do anything but nuke a frozen entrée. The truth is that when we take even a few minutes to care for ourselves, some of that sense of exhaustion is relieved. We need simple steps that are realistic to fit into a hectic schedule.
One of the most valuable steps we can take is to develop the skill of distinguishing “Urgent” from “Important”. In a world where everything is expected to be done immediately, we pay the price with our sanity and adrenal burnout. One thing that truly does warrant serious attention is our need for sleep. Getting a true night of quality sleep reduces stress and improves health.
This week we talk with Jill Weisenberger, author of the book “The Overworked Person’s Guide to Better Nutrition”. Jill offers simple steps you can take to eat well, reduce stress, and improve your health.
Tune in as we learn how to better manage the pressures of being overworked. As always, you’ll find lots of recipes, healthy eating, and cooking tips on Chef Tom’s blog, The Confidence Diet.

The Huffington Post says 47% of us experience some type of chronic pain. From fibromyalgia to back pain, IBS, or migraines, recurring symptoms can make life, well, painful! It doesn’t have to be that way and you can get rid of chronic pain in as fast as 90 days.
Most chronic pain is caused by inflammation. Certain substances in food and food additives can trigger an inflammation response in the body, leading to chronic pain. Even foods considered “healthy” such as dairy or cocoa, contain proteins that can lead to inflammation.
Imagine how it would feel to be free from those symptoms that just will not go away. By its definition, chronic pain cannot be treated by medication, but only temporarily relieved. By eliminating foods you are sensitive to, it is possible to stop the inflammation response and become pain free. Isn’t it worth a try? After all, the worst thing that can happen is nothing.
This week we talk with Dr. Dan Twogood, chiropractor and author of the book “Chronic Pain Gone 90 Days”. In his 30 years of practice he has helped countless patients become pain free by identifying and eliminating foods that are the underlying cause of their pain.
Tune in as we learn how chronic pain can simply and easily be gone from the body. As always, you’ll find lots of recipes, healthy eating, and cooking tips on Chef Tom’s blog, The Confidence Diet.

Ready to make those lifestyle changes you’ve been talking about? Maybe take a little more time for yourself with Yoga, perhaps? You’ve heard so much about it, but not so sure you’re flexible enough? If you have ever thought you couldn’t “do” Yoga, think again.
More important than how far into a yoga pose you can go, is using proper form. It really doesn’t matter what the other people in the room are doing. What matters is that you are practicing to the best of your own personal ability. What matters is choosing to practice in a way that makes you feel good about yourself.
What does it mean to live a Yogi lifestyle in other cultures? What does the word itself mean? Bringing a Yoga consciousness into our day to day lives can be simple. Being mindful of our movements and breath is one easy way. The resulting benefits; relaxation, increased mobility, and improved self confidence are well worth the effort.
This week we talk with Juli Rathke, founder of Meta Yoga Studios in Breckenridge, Colorado. Juli is a Yoga Mom who discovered Yoga during her first pregnancy 21 years ago. She enjoys the benefits of regular practice and shares how her children have responded to Yoga over the years. There are a range of remedies that can treat both acute and chronic disease. Many of us are familiar with using Arnica to soothe aches or bruises. Other problems that can be effectively addressed are mental/emotional issues such as anxiety or depression, female hormonal imbalances, skin issues,
