              • 259 | Loneliness and Quarantine

As we continue to navigate a world that feels so different from even a month ago, it should come as no surprise that emotions are running a bit rapid these days! Today, we’ll continue to examine another feeling that many of us are experiencing during this time, and that is loneliness. While it may sound logical to categorize emotions as “good” or “bad”, Chip Dodd encourages us to think of them as signals that inform us of our needs. Join us today as we talk about the “signal” loneliness is trying to send; not only in times of stress but also throughout our lives. Also, in this episode…

                • The difference between solitude and isolation
                • The 4 types of relationships we’re all lonely for
                • Guarding against apathy and practicing vulnerability
                • We’re excited about this one because just like all of these emotions, loneliness is not exclusive to scenarios of high stress or chaos. As you’ll hear today, we are actually dealing them far more than we realize. So as a refresher, we’ve derived our resources from the book “Voice of the Heart” by Dr. Chip Dodd. With all that being, let’s break down the idea of what loneliness even is.

Loneliness is a feeling that tells us we’re made for relationship. In fact, it’s a leading feeling that can lead us to seeking out 4 different kinds of relationships.

                  1. A loneliness to be with ourselves

                  2. A loneliness to be with others

                  3. A loneliness to be with God

                  4. A loneliness for creative expression

Now, we know the first one may come as a surprise because honestly, in this season, many of us are sick of being with ourselves! But this definition is different than merely locking ourselves up in a quarantined house.

At the end of the day, God did not make us to do this life alone and we can see examples of this all the way from the garden, to even the example Jesus set in His relationship with His disciples. A great verse here is Proverbs 18:1…it says, “A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment.”

                • 258 | Processing Fear and Sadness

More than ever before, many of us can relate to feelings of fear and sadness on a global level.

While those who trust in Jesus can rest assured their hope is secure, it doesn’t take away from
the sorrow of witnessing so many struggles around us. On today’s podcast, we’ll dive into the
topic of both fear and sadness and how properly processing both, can lead to a more resilient
and faith filled life. Also, in this episode…

                  • 257 | Peace in the Midst of Anxiety

We are recording from our homes and again; we’ve never been more grateful for technology! So, as we face a new week together, we wanted to talk about something that many of us are undoubtedly wrestling with and that’s the topic of anxiety. So, pull up a chair (or continue that multitasking thing you’re doing at home) and let’s get honest about where we are right now.

With COVID-19 on everyone’s radar, it’s safe to say that most of us are struggling with anxiety on some level. However, what does anxiety actually mean and what should we do when we notice it rising in both our minds and bodies? What’s more, how do we process our feelings honestly while also renewing our minds with the truth of God? Join us today as we talk about the peace that is available to us even in the midst of chaos, corona and anxiety! Also, in this episode…

                    • 255 | Our Call in the Midst of Covid-19

It’s no secret that our world is hurting and facing unknown territory in the wake of

COVID-19. With so many questions and hurdles to climb, it can feel overwhelming to say the least. How do we best share the hope of Christ while not caving into the panic and fear around us? Today, we’re breaking away from our normally scheduled series to talk about our response in the midst of the chaos as well as practical ways to show up and love those around us.

                      Practical Tools :
                      • Display love for the elderly and most vulnerable by STAYING HOME if you are able. At the end of the day, Jesus was always the MOST concerned FOR the vulnerable, the “least of these.” This is a great opportunity for the Church to do all we can to protect the most vulnerable!
                      • Show genuine care/concern and simply ask someone, “How are you doing?”
                      • Reach out to people you know might be struggling with loneliness/isolation or fear right now. Consider writing letters and placing them in your neighbor’s mailboxes with your contact information. Encourage them to reach out if they need to anything.
                      • Be aware of the words that are coming out of your mouth, especially on social media, right now! Are they bringing life and hope or are they breeding fear and hopelessness?
                      • Avoid asking, “did you see?”, or “have you heard?” especially if you’re not sure it’s accurate.
                      • Support your local businesses in whatever ways you can. Think of the ones that are special/meaningful to you and find out how you can support them…you may not be able to eat in the restaurant, but many stores are still serving food to go or for delivery!).
                      • PRAY. Prayer isn’t a “last resort.” Pray for those suffering from the Coronavirus, those caring for the ill, those seeking a vaccine, and all others who serve in these times. Pray for those experiencing anxiety.

                      • 254 | Navigating Hard Seasons through Renewing the Mind

Renewing our minds to the truth of God’s Word changes everything. In Keys to Freedom we present tools to find hope and healing in Christ. We are taking a little break from our current series in light of the recent world events. The fear, uncertainty, and chaos that coronavirus has brought our world is not bigger than our God.  In response to the crisis, we wanted to re-post this episode from awhile back to help through these uncertain times.

                      • 253 | Technology and the Online Space: Bullying, Trolling and Safeguarding your Heart and Mind

It’s no secret that we are living in the most technologically advanced time in history. More than ever before, we have access to devices that allow us to buy, learn and explore almost anything from the touch of a screen! We also have the opportunity to enter into community with people from all over the world. However, with this new innovation also comes increased opportunity for much harm. Bullying, “trolling” and even harassment have all been at the source of many struggling with depression and even contemplating suicide. In this episode, we talk about ways to better safeguard ourselves and our loved ones. Also, in this episode…

                        • Why we must be active participants in what we allow ourselves to be exposed to
                        • The difference between feedback, criticism and mistreatment
