今天要教你們去了國外坐地鐵會用到的單字，喜愛自助旅遊的我，省錢對我來說很重要，而大眾運輸交通的地鐵如果坐對了還可以省一點小錢。那我就以我最熟悉的芝加哥地鐵為範例，來教教大家搭地鐵會用到的單字吧。

*Transit

Transit可以當名詞，有中間運送的意思，比如說 Many goods were damaged in transit. 很多貨物在運送過程中壞掉了。

或是動詞，當作運送，比如說 The canal can transit a total of 50 ships daily. 這個運河每天可以運送50艘船。

*Deduct

deduct 就是扣除的意思，同義字是subtract，從一個總額裡面減掉，通常後面介系詞加from。例如你可以說 The seller deducted 50 dollars from the original price. 賣家從原價減去50元。

*Vend

Vend 當作動詞是販售的意思，那販售東西的人就叫做vender。比方說是市集或是夜市裡不管是賣小吃、賣衣服或是賣遊戲擺攤的都叫做 vender。比如說，Visitors can explore vendors' products from all around the world and enjoy the unique shopping experience. 訪客可以找到世界各地的商品並享受這個特別的購物經驗。

接下來是Ventra card 跟 Ventra ticket 在CTA 官網上的描述：

Ventra Cards are used with transit value and passes for regular fares and transfers. Fare you load to your Ventra Card's transit account can be seen and managed at vending machines, online, in the Ventra and by phone.

New Ventra Cards can be purchased from vending machines at all 'L' stations and at more than 1,000 retail locations

(including drugstores, currency exchanges and more). They can also be ordered online or by phone.

Ventra Tickets

You can buy disposable paper Single-Ride and 1-Day tickets at vending machines.

*Lunar Calendar

Lunar Calendar 就是農曆的意思。大家, 農曆不是agricultural calendar.

Lunar就是月亮的意思, 因為這是一套依據月亮運行來編制的曆法。那我們平常用的新曆, 則是用太陽運行來編制的囉。

*Weaver

Weaver 就是織布的人, 也就是指織女。那織布的織動就是weave。

Cow herder

再來故事後面介紹牛郎, He was an ordinary cow herder on earth, ordinary 這是平凡的意思, 那herder是照顧家畜的人。所以牛郎是一個在人間再平凡

不過的養牛的人。

*Ascend

Ascend指的是緩緩升起的意思, 那你們想想看他的相反詞是什麼？

沒錯,就是descend,有下降的意思。

所以當士兵帶著織女慢慢的往天上升的時候, 牛郎發現他竟然也在上升, 哇塞, 天底下竟然有這麼好的事情。

*touch by

touch by, touch是觸摸的意思, 但這邊當然不是說被他們的愛觸摸啦, 而是感動的意思。

Chinese Valentine’s Day it’s also called 七夕 festival and it’s on the 7th day of the 7th month of the lunar calendar. There’s a really beautiful but sad legend behind this day.

A long long time ago, there was a weaver girl named 織女. She was actually the youngest daughter of the jade emperor, the ruler of heaven. And then here comes our man lead 牛郎. He was an ordinary cow herder on earth.

One day, when 牛郎 was grazing his cow, he saw several maidens, including 織女, on the riverside with their clothes off and went in for a bath. Suddenly, a cow started to speak to him and said if you hide 織女dress then she will not be able to return to the heavens. 牛郎 did exactly what the cow told him and 織女 couldn’t find her dress and had to stay on the earth. This was when 牛郎 returned her dress and expressed his love to 織女. Surprisingly, 織女 saw 牛郎’s kindness and agreed to marry him.

They lived a happy life and had two children. However, even it’s been several years on earth yet it’s just a blink in heaven. As soon as the jade emperor found out his youngest daughter missing and saw she already married a mortal man on earth, he was so angry and sent soldiers to bring her back immediately. 織女was taken by the soldiers and 牛郎 was chasing after her. As the soldiers and 織女 ascended to heaven, 牛郎 found himself ascending with them too. When the distance between 牛郎and 織女 was getting closer, suddenly, the queen of heaven threw her golden hairpin in front of 牛郎and 織女. The hairpin turned into a giant river, which is also known as the milky way, between two of them.

Touched by their greatest love, the magpies in heaven formed a bridge with their bodies for 牛郎and 織女 to cross. The jade emperor was moved by their love and allowed them to cross the bridge and meet once a year. The date 牛郎and 織女 were allowed to meet was the evening of the 7th day of the 7th month of the lunar calendar.
