When you’re busy and distracted, you forget how sweet, meaningful, and beautiful your life is. Taking time to step back and watch yourself from a distance helps you see that you really are the star of your story. Take a break with the Movie Meditation to become a compassionate observer of your own legendary life.

One of the most basic principles of living a more peaceful life is understanding what is - and what isn’t - in our control. As a teacher, Michael Ann gets opportunities to practice this every day. In part 2 of coaching with Michael Ann, she shares how the coaching experience has already helped her feel more at ease, more herself, and more in charge of how she responds. She’s finding that taking charge of her thoughts and feelings in the classroom allows her actions to come naturally from a place of love. Best of all in a few weeks she went from feeling so overwhelmed and discouraged to feeling lighter and sensing the possibility of things getting better. Join us and see how you can lighten up by letting go of control. You can hear part 1 in episode 65, Redefining What Works with Michael Ann.

If you have grown-up children - or children of any age - what would you be willing to do to help them live their best, most rewarding life? For sure we would sacrifice immense amounts of time, energy, and resources. Even better, what if it wasn’t that hard? My guests today, Lamonte Wilcox and his daughter McKelle Wilcox, raise the possibility that releasing ourselves from the patterns we picked up when we were young can allow our children (even adult children!) to live free from the limiting patterns we passed down. Join us for part 1 of 2 episodes of this promising conversation about unraveling generational patterns and healing ourselves and our families in the process.

Join my friend Michael Ann and I today as we do some coaching on a big challenge she’s facing. She’s a seasoned teacher who is having an unexpected and bewildering teaching experience this year. You’ll hear how Michael Ann slows down and starts coming up with some really great insights as she redefines what it means to connect with her students. We’ve all faced similar feelings of loss and disconnection through a move, getting settled in a new job or having kids leave home – any changes in our life that leave us feeling disoriented for a while. When things that used to work, don’t work so well anymore. It’s a good time to ask ourselves some deep questions about what will work now.

We all have insights that come to us about how we can experience life better, and times when we envision achieving a goal so clearly. We're so excited about it! Then our life and our mind are so busy that we forget and lose touch with it. That radiant light dims, that clarity gets fuzzy. And then your life just doesn't reach the level that seemed so clear and possible in the moment. It doesn’t have to be that way! I’ll walk you through my system for keeping those powerful insights top of mind where they can actually keep me motivated and guide my life.

Most of us in midlife have experienced trauma at some time in our lives. My guest today, Stephanie Olson, shares her story of childhood trauma. It led to some rough years in young adulthood until she found her way back to herself with God’s help. Now she is living a purposeful life by using her painful experiences to reach out to help others. Midlife is a good time for us to consider if past trauma is holding us back today, and if we’re ready to heal it.

How do you know if you received an answer to prayer and did the right thing? If you’ve ever thought that following God’s guidance means that everything should work out smoothly and then felt confused when it didn’t, I’ve got a couple of stories from my own life to share with you. I think about answers to prayer differently now, in a way that gives much more space for our real human experience along the way. And it allows for God to provide something even more meaningful than what we asked for.

Sometimes we need to hear from another woman in midlife the we can relate to - how she has come to feel more confident now than ever by knowing who she is and what she loves, and to find meaning in life. So welcome to my friend and guest Rebecca Welling, who shares what she loves about being in midlife now. Her journey took her through raising 5 children (including triplets), taking 10 years to finish her degree, dealing with the sudden silence of an empty nest, and finding fulfillment in becoming a Medicare expert (yes, all kinds of work can be fulfilling!) Stay with us and you’ll hear some astonishing triplet stories at the end.
