As I've become more educated in health and fitness and more observant, I noticed how easy it is for us to blindly follow those who have a "certification." There's some validity to the certifications that are handed out, but it doesn't necessarily mean a person is educated, what it means is they can pass a test. Personal Training is not different. In order for you to get certified (at least through NASM, where I got mine) you just need to be able to pass a test and get CPR certified. Doesn't sound to complicated, but when we're talking about people's lively hood it's important to understand whether you're in good hands or not. That's why I made this episode, so for those who are new to the health and fitness realm (or just looking for a Personal Trainer) know what they should be looking and what they should be asking. Just became somebody has a certification doesn't necessarily mean they know what they're doing, and it doesn't mean they necessarily care. Too often do I see PT's in the gym, working with their clients, and they're not paying attention, or they're on their phone. That's not cool, and honestly, it really pisses me off. It should bother you (the paying customer) as well. You should have your personal trainer's undivided attention and that's what I discuss today.
