Welcome to a special series Madison is doing this February. Using Erika River’s website “OurBlackGirls.com” Madison will be highlighting cases of missing or cold cases involved black girls and women. Back girls and women go missing at a disproportionate rate, yet despite that they receive less coverage than white victims. To get some of these not so well known cases out there.

This week I will be covering the disappearances of four black women. Zaynah Lawson, an 18 year old woman with Asperger's Syndrome, went missing from her home in Shively Kentucky on July 1, 2010. Matrice Washington was 33 years old when she went missing from Detroit Michigan in 2008. Kelsey Collins was 18 years old when she vanished after traveling to visit her boyfriend in Seattle from her home in Everett Washington. Kelsey Collins was previously a witness in court against one of her pimps. Sophie Reeder was 15 years old when vanished while going for a walk near her home Fort Lauderdale Florida on May 20, 2017. Sophie’s computer revealed she was searching about sugar daddies.
