Tired of feeling powerless?? I definitely relate to the feeling...
Today I’m interviewing Patty, founder of Latinos Empowered. Check out www.instagram.com/latinos.empowered
Patty shares her immigration story of moving from Peru to the USA when she was 9 years old and how she felt as one of the only latinas in her classroom and neighborhood when she was growing up.
Patty also shares how a lack of representation and a sense of powerlessness made her create an amazing community to empower Latinos while offering resources.
If you want to know why representation matters and if you need ideas on how to use your identity as your strength you can’t miss this episode.

What’s the solution to racism and biases? New episode available ✨🙌🏼
I had the opportunity to talk to Shehla and I have to admit that it has been one of the interviews where I have learned the most.
Shehla opened up about the challenges of being a Muslim in the USA, the stereotypes that have affected her and how she uses her podcast “I’m a Muslim and that’s ok” to teach others about her experiences.
We talked about common misconceptions about Muslims, the hardest topics she has had to address in her podcast and the importance of seeing people as individuals rather than a collective in order to avoid racism and biases.
Shehla shared important advice: Reach out. Create community. Ask for help. Connect with other immigrants that have been through similar situations.

Regresar no es un fracaso. Nunca!

Ok so this is it! The last episode/video of 2020.
I decided to do my first solo episode 😱
I know I’m not the only one struggling during this holiday season after this difficult year.
For a lot of Immigrants the holidays are the one time of the year when we visit home or when family comes to visit.
I haven’t been able to go “home” for the holidays in 7 years but still this year feels different than the other ones.
In the episode I will share some ideas on the things that helped me in my years as an immigrant and also the things that YOU told me that helped you!
It’s a fun and different episode, I hope you like it!
Spoiler alert: You might need to change the way you did things in the past.
We will be back with episodes on January

Have you experienced a backwards immigration??
It's exactly how it sounds: difficult!
Ximena left her home country, Colombia, when she was a kid. Her family came to the USA seeking political asylum, which was denied after 7 years of pending status.
When returning to Colombia she felt like she was an immigrant (in her own county) all over again.
We explored the concept of being an expat versus an immigrant. We talk about the visa application process and she shares her most recent immigration experience living in Taiwan and learning Chinese.
Ximena also talks about her Youtube channel where she shares experiences from her life in Taiwan and inspires others to follow their dreams abroad! Check it out here

What happened to the land of dreams? Has the “American Dream” changed over time?
When Harvey emigrated from China as a kid with his family, his parents found a country full of opportunities that welcomed them.
Today, Harvey and I had a conversation where we explored if the American Dream has changed over time and how his own immigration journey has led him to pursue a law degree with the desire to create a change in the immigration system.
I couldn’t be more excited with interviews like this, with Modern Immigrants like Harvey that are creating a change in the world.
