We made new friends over the summer with In Good Faith Podcast when host Steven Kapp Perry interviewed both 3 Black Men Podcast and Mommying While Muslim cohosts (that's US!) during Brigham Young University's Annual Religious Freedom Review. And there's nothing more freeing than being able to share your POV with other people who are receptive to learning and understanding. Building bridges is the way to build allyship, for ourselves and for our kids, as we like to say.

Please note that Uzma got pretty excitable at about 45:54 and misspoke about the miraculous conception, but you know she means Jesus and not what she actually said. Interfaith incites passion, indeed!

Find out how a near death experience led her to transform her life, career, and helped her lead a true life of service as a doula during the most trying times of people’s lives.

Mariam has been doing this for a VERY long time and has some valuable insights for anyone who wants to know how the end of life looks for us. A lot of Muslims do not understand the difference between palliative care and hospice, so swipe left to read some easy definitions about them.

Kristen recognizes the unique challenges and specific religious requirements that Muslims face at the end of life, helping Muslims find peace and fulfillment as they navigate this sacred transition. How is her work different from that of an imam’s and why is it necessary? 🕌🌺Her guidance fosters understanding and empowers families to support their loved ones in a manner that aligns with Islam. Considerate and critical community aftercare as well as the end of any relationship are all related to death too, and we dive into those topics as well.

This supports the staff who care for the children, as well as provides social and emotional growth for the young residents of these homes. Representative Nabeela Syed is the youngest Democratic member of the Illinois House and discusses her battle for gun reform. She gives us FOMO and nostalgia for our birth state (even Uzma is proud to admit this now), and so much hope, because the legislature was able to pass a law banning military-style assault weapons. Common sense gun control IS possible, y’all!
From her earliest memory of active shooter drills as a young child, Rep. Nabeela knew that it was messed up to deal with guns this way. Hear about gun reform and what the Muslim community can do to help make her job easier. These are deplorable numbers and as voters and taxpayers (over 81% of Muslim American are citizens in this nation; source: Pew Research Center) we say, “NOT WITH MY MONEY!”Learn what permitless carry is, and what it’s being sold as by state legislatures and governors signing executive orders to bring guns into hands without background checks, blocking red flag laws, and worse. You know, common sense gun laws?
