The Moms and Martinis podcast is a biweekly listen into the kitchen table talk between Kira and her friends. Kira, mom of four from Atlanta, Georgia, invites you to witness candid moments in her life, as she tries new things and goes new places, all while becoming a better person and mother and keeping her mental health in check.
In this week’s episode, Kira is joined at the table with Chad and Lotus, hosts of That's Deep Podcast, to discuss intimacy and how to balance nurturing your relationship while raising children (ages 2 to 17). Lotus and Chad share how they met (You can listen to the entire show on their platform called E2:In the dark alley?!). Chad shares how he identified a gem in a class of her own and knew he had to lock her down. Chad excitedly shares why Lotus upgraded him, and Lotus shares why she stopped playing hard to get and gave him a chance. They share how raising kids is hard and how spontaneity helps keep the love flowing and adds spice to the relationship. Lotus shares why it is important to learn what works best for them and why it is important not to compare your experience with your partner to previous partners. "Be your own goals" instead of trying to be Instagram #couplegoals.
Chad heeds a warning to Kira that her lifestyle may not be conducive to being in a relationship. Kira shares why she is not committing to any one particular idea of love and a relationship.
Lotus outlines intimacy as the alone time, great conversation, and mentally stimulate her. Chad outlines intimacy as being in close physical proximity, watching TV together. The couple share how sharing in the household and helping with the kids help create moments to focus on each other. Happy spouse, happy house.
They discuss the four types of intimacy:
Physical Intimacy: hugging, kissing, massages, sexual touch, cuddling, proximity
Mental Intimacy: meaningful conversation, shared values, and interests
Spiritual Intimacy: respect for each other's beliefs, shared purpose, nurtures each other inner peace
Emotional Intimacy: affirming, caring, interested in each other feelings
