Northern B.C. manhunt ends, with many questions left unanswered

The manhunt for BC murder suspects Bryer Schmegelsky and Kam McLeod is finally over in Gillam Manitoba -- with an announcement yesterday that RCMP have found two bodies believed to be those of the suspects.

The bodies were first transported by boat and then loaded in a trailer. They were then taken to the airport in Gillam so they could be transported to Winnipeg for autopsy. The bodies were transported separately, each in an RCMP plane. Global News reporter Diana Foxall is in Winnipeg and joins us with the latest…

With the help of an independent consultant the transit authority has concluded it needs to increase the range of salaries. The new salary range for CEO Kevin Desmond runs from $406 thousand a year up to $517 thousand a year.

Lunar lander crash may have established 'water bear' colony on the Moon

A tiny species of nearly indestructible creatures may have just taken over the moon before humans — although we have no one but ourselves to blame.

Thousands of microscopic tardigrades likely survived a lunar lander crash into the moon last April, according to the founder of an Earth archive project.

The Israeli-run lunar lander, dubbed Beresheet, was supposed to be the first privately funded spacecraft to touch down on the moon. Its payload included a DVD-sized library created by the Arch Mission Foundation, which contained vast troves of information and thousands of dehydrated tardigrades.

A 72 year old driver from Saanich, B.C. 

A motorist with “too many” tickets for using an electronic device while driving is facing a four-month driving prohibition, according to Saanich police.

“Just served a 72-year-old driver a 4-month driving prohibition as they had too many ‘use an electronic device while driving tickets,’” the police service’s traffic safety unit tweeted Wednesday.

No other details on the driver’s penalty were provided, but, according to the B.C. government website, prohibitions for experienced drivers can result if the driver incurs two or more distracted driving infractions within 12 months.

The fine for a driver’s first distracted driving infraction totals $578 — a $368 fine plus a four-point penalty on the driving record, which adds $210 to the driver’s premium — the website reads.
