    Publisher's Summary:
While nursing some drinks after a terrible day at work, Tucker Candle spits out his rum and coke when a stranger across the bar turns water into wine. But did he? Or was it just an alcohol-induced trick of the light?
This stranger has a warning for Candle: skip your planned business trip tomorrow. If you go, I won't be able to protect you any longer.
With a clear head the next morning, Candle resumes his normal life, working for a company that's about to lay him off. That barroom huckster couldn't have been magical, or prophetic. He was just some washed-up weirdo with a few tricks.
But when Candle comes back from his trip to find his pregnant wife missing and a dead man's blood seeping into his bathroom floor, the washed-up weirdo's counsel doesn't seem so foreign now.
Cops, friends, family... Candle doesn't trust anyone. As he searches for his wife, people around him keep turning up murdered. If he can't find her and uncover the mystery driving the chaos, the stranger's words might come true, after all.

Its a mystery, there are many out there..this is a good one though!
Which character as performed by William Coon was your favorite?
    Candle!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
This would make a thrilling movie!
    Any additional comments?
** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **
Candle is just out for a few drinks after work, and gets a strange warning..He ignores it, and everything goes down hill super quickly! His wife is kidnapped, he is put in the middle of a murder mystery and a struggle for power that has been going on for a long while...with no one to turn to,he is on his own..but will he find his beloved Grace in time?
SUPER AWESOME..DEFINITELY WANT TO CONTINUE THIS SERIES!!!
    Excellent!
This can be summed up in one word, and that's excellent!! I pretty much loved everything about it, though thought it could of been longer. That's simply because I didn't want it to end.
Candle is the MC and was such an easy character to like. He was easy to relate to and had a way of making it impossible not to root for him. I loved how cynical he was when he first meets Kareem because I think all of us would be. It made him more believable.
The plot was fast paced and well thought out. It grabbed me from the start and didn't let go. It's a short enough listen but it's not short on anything else. The attention to detail and the author's style of writing made this amazing and totally captivated me. It's packed with suspense, action, intrigue and was at times emotionally intense. Poor Candle!!!!
In all this is a must read and a series that has the potential to be amazing. I need book 2!!!
William Coon was fantastic. His pacing and tones were perfect. He told the story flawlessly and is definitely a narrator I need to check out.

I loved Stories to Read While Driving: Kill the King and Other Tales by Jim Heskett. I loved this to. And what a book it is.

    Publisher's Summary:
Lestrade had never been arrested before, although he had often had his collar felt by unsuspecting constables. But now a woman has died in his arms in a London pea-souper, and he is not only arrested but facing the drop.
Millicent Millichip, in the wrong place at the right time, is neither the first nor only in a series of murders by someone so cunning that all the brains of the Yard cant catch them - and this despite the calling card left helpfully at every scene.
In his time Lestrade has found it hard enough to follow a case, but from the condemned cell in Pentonville it is even harder.

    Lestrade does it again
Another good read by MJ Trow. Just last week I had to read this one again because I have read the entire series and I need a new one (hear that MJ). Just buy this book and have fun with it. You don't often find an author with MJ Trow's gifts. He can shock me and make me laugh on the same page. Give him a try and its best if as always you start at the beginning and go through the years with Lestrade but any way you do it you will be entertained.
    Four Stars
    Enjoyable read
    A stumble toward the hangman
Lastrade worrying over a clue that falls in his arms, a body with little to recommend itself or answer the many questions about a hit and run that was dropped into his lap as a case that was already completed. SHOLTO confused as ever but refusing to sign off on a death that keeps finding victims and more disconnected evidence. Could be Lastrades swan song, or entry to the evidence room to find his favorite persuader, the brass knuckles with the pop up switch blade. A fanciful romp through English justice riding on the hood of a Fiat Mephisto racing auto. The devils own.

    Bedtime book
Liked the overall story, though at times it was hard to follow.
Impossible science, religious references, evil character from Iran (didn't care for that).

    Title: The Devil's Share
Subtitle: The Crissa Stone Novels, Book 4
    Author: Wallace Stroby
    Narrator: Coleen Marlo
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 6 hrs and 34 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-07-15
    Publisher: Blackstone Audio, Inc.
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 3 votes
    Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense
    Publisher's Summary:
It's been a year since professional thief Crissa Stone last pulled a job, and she's spent that time under the radar, very carefully not drawing attention to herself. That kind of life is safe, but it's boring, and it's lonely, and it's not very lucrative. So when Crissa starts to get antsy - and low on funds - she agrees to act as a thief for hire, partnering with a wealthy art collector to steal a truckload of plundered Iraqi artifacts before they're repatriated to their native country. But what's supposed to be a "give-up" robbery with few complications quickly turns deadly. Soon Crissa is on the run again, with both an ex-military hit squad and her own partners in crime in pursuit. And what should be the easiest job of her career - robbing a man who wants to be robbed - might just turn out to be the most dangerous.
    Members Reviews:
Crissa Stone is the female Parker. And Wallace Stroby is a modern Richard Stark.
"In Parker's world there is no good or evil, but simply different styles of crime. There is no law, so Parker cannot be caught, but merely injured or delayed. The subversive implication is not that crime pays, but that all business is crime. ... He is a loner, competing with conglomerates (the syndicate) and fending off marginal elements (psychotics, amateurs). He has no interest in society except as a given, like the weather, and none in power. He is a freebooter who acquires money in order to buy himself periods of vegetative quiet."
Those words, by Luc Sante, were written about the first-nameless professional thief created by Donald Westlake under his Richard Stark handle. But they could just as easily apply to Crissa Stone, the ascetic professional thief of Wallace Stroby's imagination. In fact, I find her to be an almost perfect analogue of Parker, which a few key distinctions â a love for and loyalty to her now-imprisoned mentor and lover, most notably. And permitting a few people the luxury of knowing her first name. But Stone is otherwise stone, and it's her efforts to stay professional in the midst of slightly less professional professionals that drives the pleasurable tension of THE DEVIL'S SHARE, the fourth Stone novel.
Randall Hicks is a Gulf War veteran, a professional mercenary and security expert now in the employ of Emile Cota, a wealthy old man who acquired his wealth in ways that are almost but not quite comprehensible. They hire Stone to plan and execute a "give-up" robbery of priceless Persian Gulf antiquities. But Hicks, for all his cold-blooded efficiency, seems to have an exploitable weakness for Stone. And when the robbery goes wrong in the bloodiest possible fashion, Hicks and Stone prove to have different views about how to stop the bleeding and tie off the heist's loose ends. And that difference of opinion puts them on a collision course amid a rising body count.
THE DEVIL'S SHARE is good grim old-school crime-fiction fun, just like the Parker books (and Westlake's funnier Dortmunder series, for that matter). Stroby, like Westlake/Stark, has a feel for fastidiously lean, coiled, ferocious storytelling.

Do we really live on in some conscious form after we die, and is that form capable of communicating with the world of the living?
Aye, right was journalist Jack Parlabanes stance on the matter. But this was before he found himself in the compromising position of being not only dead himself but dead with an exclusive still to file. One thing he knows for certain: death is not the end - its the ultimate undercover assignment.

    ANOTHER GREAT STORY
Everything from the title is excellent. This author is just so good at storytelling. We are racing through his books so I do hope he writes more.
A bit too cynical even by Brookmyre's standards
I am a huge fan of Chris Brookmyre but I found this book a little too jaded and cynical even for him. I can see why he decided to move on from Jack Parlabane at this point as he was clearly getting tired of him and the character had gone from a rich and complex figure to a caricature of a jaded hack. The writing in the style of the Daily Mail columnist was also a bit too stereotypical with the perverse effect that it rather let a deserving target off the hook.
Overall it was an enjoyable listen but as a fan of Brookmyre's work I would have to rank this as one of his lesser works and certainly not a patch on his recent renaissance with the Jasmine Sharp books and Dead Girl Walking
    brilliant brookmyre
great narration paired with a superb plot and disturbingly funny story. really enjoyed and would highly recommend
    A must listen!
Brookmyre's best work (in my opinion). Incredibly sarcastic, witty and informative. Brookmyre's way of incorporating global issues into his books while keeping them thoroughly entertaining is exceptional.
    Another can't stop listening book
Always find I can't stop listening don't think there's any more in this series now sadly.

    Good book-awful reader
Loved both her books. But after this I'll read the print copy. The reader is dreadful. Could barely force myself to listen through until the end. Have literally listened to hundreds of audio books over the years and have never heard such an unacceptable reader before.
    It was okay
I listened to this book while I did chores around the house and ran some errands. It was okay. The mystery wasn't complicated nor were the characters.
enjoyed as I'm a driving competition groom
I enjoyed the driving aspect of the book. it just took a bit to get used to the voice
