Smexy paranormal that needed more

Eh, the story was okay but I was not in love with it. Even though it is a short read it sort of dragged.

There was so much going on and it felt like it was part of a bigger whole. I felt like much was missing. I would be interested in seeing this book expanded and the story more fleshed out.

Loads of steam crammed into this small space. Plenty hot and heavy but not a lot of substance. It felt hollow, until the end when feeling were explained.

I listened to the audio book and Scott Thomas did a great job of bringing the characters to life. His dreamy voice really made the smexy scenes even hotter!!

perhaps this was intended for the most basic of bitches, amongst which I do not considef myself. Consider me unimpressed.

Loved it.

What did you love best about Mything You: Heroes of Greece?

The dialogue had a modern feel to it that made the story sound fresh and the time period and characters relatable. Details like the fastening of sandals and togas, gently reminded me this was a different time, but the characters drew me in and I took this journey with them.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved studying mythology in school and even own a copy of Edith Hamilton's 'Mythology' book so I had to read this book. I wasn't disappointed. Lots of references to familiar names. Hope there are more stories to come in this world.

Have you listened to any of Katie McAbles other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time I've heard this narrator, but she sounded like Ari to me and overall did a great job telling the story.

Listening in the moonlight

What made the experience of listening to Moonlight and Illusions the most enjoyable?

This story has magic, a love story, and exotic locales - all done well. It narration was well-done and easy to listen too.

This is a supernatural romance of immortality without it being a vampire story. It has magic, love, and exotic locales.

Stephen is an illusionist who is given a magical Mayan stone and a warning not to expose the stone to moonlight. Anabel is the woman he meats on a WWII hospital ship that slips through his fingers. Twenty years later, they reunite and begin their love story.

Ms. Wylie does a great job with describing the scenes, albeit in Mexico or in Mayan ruins. It is clear that this story is supposed to be about the journey Steve and Anabel take to answer the questions of the magical Mayan stone. However, I was left with questions about the stone. For example, how and when did the stone become magical? And why? Why did the woman give Stephen the stone? Why does it give immortality to one person? Why wasnt Anabel killed when she touched the stone like others before her?

L.C. Kane does a great job with the narration. She has a great voice calming voice and was easy to listen too.

A wonderful journey!

Would you listen to A Thief of Nightshade again? Why?

If you liked the Narnia books as a child you'll love this darker story that has the same style, feeling and fantasty elements. The writing is beautiful and sensitive and I was artfully transported to other worlds. The narrator captured the lyricism with her beautiful voice and artful, credible characters and emotion. I'd read this again and recommend it highly.

A fairy (faerie) tale for adults

This is one of my favorite books. It's an unusual, but refreshingly realistic fairy tale in the vein of Grimm's and Pan's Labyrinth that's a twist between romance and fantasy. It's surprisingly deep, and the story is creatively told by alternating chapters so the reader is right in the action but also getting the depth of character development that usually only comes from a long book series. I'm a guy who likes guy fantasy and unique fiction, so this story definitely fits for both a male or a female readers. It's charming, witty, and endearing, and most of all, WELL-WRITTEN, so I count it as a must read.

Time to escape this escapism

This sequel should be classified as sci-fi rather than SFR. It was very political in nature, highlighting the worst of humanity. Depressing. It also ends without resolution to the rebellion and this book was published in 2012.

Stellar Storyteller

J.L Hilton tells a good story with strong characters, a future universe full of scientific and technological developments that excite the imagination, political turmoil that reminds one of the struggles of the Irish people 2 centuries ago and yet is fresh and new and love stories that are clearly in the future but make this former hippie chuckle with glee. I loved this book and the sequel is even more exciting. I hope J.L.Hilton will continue to stir our brains and our hearts for many years to come.

Good Read

I love the characters and development of this series so far. Although, I wish we could have explored the possibilities of life on earth a little longer (it just feels like the aliens adjust too well and quickly to the situation/changes in their surrounding, philosophies, uncertain future to be realistic).

The author really has a way of bringing your into her world. This seemed like a longer book , in a very good way.

I can really visualize how this could be our society in 60-100 years.

I loved this story. It's what I call gutsy--popular fiction with real bite. The causes of conflict in this futuristic world are the same as those that caused all the horrors of human history--prejudice, greed and fear. Hilton's story shows us that no matter where in the universe we are and no matter how different the races involved, peace will never come to those motivated by those three passions.

Genny's love for the two Glin, Duin and Belloc is inspirational in its clarity. This is no angst-filled love triangle as we usually see such things written. There is no jealousy or having to choose between them. Instead, according to Glin customs, since they see no reason why one person can't love more than one other, we have a three way marriage, a sharing that makes our jealousies and narrow view of love look backward. I loved all three of the main characters, each strongly drawn and complex. Hax, head of technology at Asteria and J'ni's (Genny's) grandmother's sim are two other delightful characters.

Stellarnet Prince is world-building at its best.

This is so satisfying, especially in audio book format!

Loved hearing Ben's deep Euro-tinged voice fill in the answers to my questions wondering how the Baron and his family began anyway. How did the members become vampires? What makes the Kandesky's such a charming and civil bunch? It felt as if i was listening to dark fairy tales told around a campfire set once upon a time in an old black forest--really stirred my Czechoslovakian roots! Now to listen to Danube for the rest of the family story...

A good background tale.

I have enjoyed the first two SNAP books and this glimpse in to the family history is a treat- I wish this tale were longer.

A Storyline That Transports

Plague: a love story will carry the reader away to another time but with today's universal theme of passion, love and self-absorbed rage. You won't be able to put it down until you find yourself at the end of the last page. Beautifully written even as the setting shifts from the placid countryside to a house of slaughter. Stefan and Jean-Louis' common bonds easily allow for any suspension of disbelief. Their curse and friendship transcend the centuries with the addition of Penelope helping to build their colony of the immortals. Want to travel to a memorable escape? Here's your ticket.

I love this book!

The author has woven a yarn worthy of reading. Since it is a novella, it ends too quickly! But if you are a SNAP fan (and you should be), you will truly enjoy the backstory of some of the major characters. Ms. Drier is a superb storyteller, makes her vampire and demon characters totally believable and blends in very interesting historical and geographical details. I highly recommend all the books about the Kandesky vampire dynasty. This one is a great place to begin.

Don't Miss This One!!!

If you're enjoying Michele Drier's "SNAP" series, you won't want to miss this novella that gives us the backstory of Jean-Luis, Stefan and Penelope and how they became who and what they are in the Kandesky Chronicles. I picked it up and never put it down until I finished the last page!!

Not sure

Ok. . . So I have read the series with Nissy and Kalinda and really liked it so I saw this book and I thought wow, I like the author and I like paranormal, I will like this one.

Um, well truthfully, not so much. I think it could have been really good if it was a bit longer. The story basically takes place in a matter of hours.
