Banished by bad decisions to spend the summer with his great-grandmother, Liam Peters thinks his life is over. After all, Marty Peters is a tough woman to be around. Maybe she wouldn't be so bad if she'd just take an interest in the modern technology he loves. Sure, she has some insight to her...but the woman is practically "pushing daisies". Not surprisingly, as tornado sirens announce a city-wide emergency, Liam discovers why that term should be avoided...well...like the plague.
When Grandma Marty tries to send him on his way, refusing to abandon her home, Liam sees his situation in a new light. Something deep inside awakens - and he chafes at the thought of leaving his 104-year-old grandmother to die. Armed with two tiny pistols and an arsenal of knowledge from his overwhelming zombie book collection, Liam realizes he could be the hero and accomplish the impossible: rescue her.
With the interstate gridlocked, opportunist criminals looking to take what they can get, law enforcement desperate to keep the peace, and the military declaring St. Louis a war-zone, Liam and Marty find themselves wrapped up in a world of chaos and panic. But when the zombies begin to overshadow everything else, Liam comes to appreciate why there are no atheists in foxholes.
Since the Sirens is the gripping first installment of E. E. Isherwood's hit post-apocalyptic series Sirens of the Zombie Apocalypse. If you like to watch society collapse, zombie hordes bear down on the heroes, and skin-of-teeth escapes, you won't be able to pause this awesome story!

    Sterile Zombie Apocalypse
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The story seems a bit antiseptic for a zombie apocalypse. It was missing something gritty and messy. Things were described as being tough, but it somehow seemed removed from the reality of what was going on in the story.
    Any additional comments?
The story line is a bit hard to believe in that an old woman survives the onset of a zombie infestation. The characters are a bit bumbling and often make poor choices in the face of dire situations. Generally the story is well researched and written, but there seems to be viewed through a bit of sterile gauze. The author promises as many as 10 books in the series. I am not sure that my attention would be sustained or that I care enough about the characters to follow them this far.
Zombie Apocalypse with a spiritual twist.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Young Adult, Apocalyptic with some mild romance, mild religious references, coming of age.
PROFANITY AND SEX: None. This book is appropriate for all ages. It is tasteful, I would be happy to see my teenage and preteen children reading or listening to this book.
STORY LINE: Unique Zombie Apocalypse book. This one has a spiritual spin to it. A young man, who is struggling with his relationship with his parents (sounds like all teenagers), who is stuck in his own world gets stuck with his grandmother for the summer. He quickly grows up realizing that he cannot abandon his granny, but needs to help her to safety. Yet who is saving who? The grandmother or the grandson.
NARRATOR: Loved the narration, really brought the story to life. Excellent job.
OVERALL: I loved this book. It was a terrific read.

A contract for a series, material for a book.
This book is a study in what happens when an author gets a contract for a series but only has material enough for a book. It drags, needlessly so. Also, we have a heroine that is supposed to be a highly trained officer in the galactic fleet. We're repeatedly told she is a hot shot pilot with vast combat experience, and a champion at hand to hand combat, but the woman can't seem to exercise any practical control of her emotions or do more than the most cursory strategic thinking, to the continuing detriment of the mission. The result is a wreck of a character you just can't care about. I doubt I'll read further from this author. I doubt I'll ever be bored enough to willingly subject myself to such concentrated banality.
    hysterics
warning: keep your volume low, the main character is hysterical and the narrator insists on screaming her lines...
    Not worth the time
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The primary character lacked focus and consistently survived her terrible planning failures.
What was most disappointing about C. Gockels story?
A lead character who did not hold my interest or concern
    Great potential but seems undercooked
It had elements I really liked but the storytelling kept falling short.
There were too many times when I could not tell if a character was thinking or talking. I found myself backing up and playing sections over because I thought I missed something important. I didn't.
If you like continuous action with few breaks, you may like this book.
Slow start but stick with it
It is a good story but the start was a little slow. I do recommend it though and will get the next one. The narrator took a bit to get in the swing but does. Although "rout" is not pronounced "wrote".

    Good narrator, okay story
Clear narration, very simple story. Author tried to make plot twists, only managed gentle turns
Hard start-morphs into an ok time kill read
It was a difficult story for me to slip into. Mainly because it felt slow, dark, & depressing. The narrator is excellent at giving you that desolate vibe. I ended up putting it down & reading another book. You know how it is. Once I started it again it held my attention. It had some interesting twists (the whole Captain America bit had me in stitches-if you like dark humor then keep going just for that). It wasnt omg omg must read but fell more into the good book to read whilst looking for the book you really want to read. My husband (a biography and non fiction reader) actually found kept sucking for updates as he found the plot very deep and thought provoking. Hmm-Oh! Narration was good-> sorry almost forgot that most important detail!
    I just didn't enjoy it.
I can't really explain why. I never got into the story. I didn't care about Jack's predicament. The whole story just fell flat with me.
Futuristic World Of Humans and Synthates
This book is well written with no typos that I noticed. I received it as a free Kindle book choice but would have bought it and will be buying the next book which I assume will be out eventually. Jack Saxton is the son of a corporate giant, founder of Genico, a genetic engineering firm that designs Synthates, also could be called Droids but with lifelike behavior and appearance. The story is about the conflict between humans who consider themselves masters over these non-human beings and the Synthates. There are lots of twists throughout the book but you never see the ending coming, at least I didn't. I was totally surprised but pleasantly satisfied. There is some violence, not much sex, and enough swearing to make it feel real. Several reviewers commented on the use of the eff word but I didn't find that offensive. Maybe it has become so common in the language of books and our every day life that it has lost its shock effect. Readers who are too sensitive to read books with such words are missing out out a lot of good reading. Mr. Delaney is a talented writer and Jack Saxton is a good hero to begin a new series, if in fact that is what this is. The narrator, Will Dacron, was excellent.

The Zombie Wars are about to begin.
The Zombie Wars is actually the story of the war that took place between books four United States of the Dead and five Dead Surge of the White Flag of the Dead series. Our protagonist John Talon has been elected President of these New United States and his close friend Charlie, Vice President. In order to get a grasp of the state of their new territory, Talon and crew set out to make a circuit of the country. Their mission; to determine the size and condition of the survivors, same for the undead while clearing out what they could, and recruit for the Army. Talon jokingly said they had created their first federal policy, which they called, Mind our own business state repopulation initiative. The Army met up with Talons group in Taylorville Lake State Park Kentucky, split up into three groups, and continued on their mission to eliminate the undead. Meanwhile, Talons crew continued on their scouting circuit back to the new capital in Leeport Illinois. With roughly ten thousand troops the Army was ready to cross the Mississippi to the Great Plains. The second part of the Zombie Wars was about to begin.
    Ok I give up
Why in the world would you take book 4 or 5 and label it as book 7. I was confused and annoyed when I finally realized this book should have come earlier in the series. Plus books 5 and 6 should be only one book and 8 and 9 should be only one book. I've gotten up to book 6 (barely btw) just to be thrown back down the ladder. So as far as I'm concerned this series ended at book 6.

    Review of legacy
This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review."
I enjoyed listening and that is my first criteria. Breaking that into parts, next I would say Suzy Jackson did a great job with the narration/performance. Each character was distinct, so there were no moments of confusion on who was speaking. Autumn Kalquist has crafted a story that is intriguing and portrays humanity living on spacecraft as they search for a future. Again, this is an enjoyable listen:-)
    Pretty good effort.
This book is the first in a series and it is a pretty good one. It does leave many unanswered questions that I assume will be addressed in future installments. It has a YA feel and though I'm not a big fan of that genre, this one still kept my attention. I'm looking forward to the sequel to this book. The narrator is decent enough and does her best with the voices.
    Depressing
I kept waiting for it to get better but after 6 hours of listening, I gave up. Part one leaves you hanging & half way through part 2, I felt like there was no hope for the characters. The main character in part one is left hanging & the main character in part two is killed off while pregnant. I'm not sure what the point of the story is unless it's to totally depress the reader/listener in which case, it did a great job.
    unanswered questions
I feel like a book should stand on its own. It deserves a proper ending. This book clearly leads to another part. Otherwise, decent story.
    This was a terrible book.
It took everything to finish this book. The story does not get better. The characters don't grow. Overall there is no point to the story. It is all the worst and most boring parts of any Sci-fi book. There is no way I would ever waste the time to read another book in this series. I'm a little irritated that I wasted my time waiting for this story to get better... but it never did.

    pretty hooked
Noah man really keeps the story going, all five books so far have been very enjoyable listens.
    fantastic!
Great series, great book, excellent narration! onward to the next book! Can't wait to see what happens next!
    End of Series...I hope
Would you try another book from Noah Mann and/or Mark Westfield?
I have listen to each book in this series, mostly on borderline fandom.
Has Ranger turned you off from other books in this genre?
For some reason the author just wants to drag on this series. The depth the author goes into attempting to write the emotional and mental state of the few main characters gets aggravating. The primary character couldnt stop professing his love for his wife, it got old. The plot in this book seemed to drag on a bit. At the end of this particular book, the plot does come to a plausible end point. If there is another book in this series I'm really not sure that i'll invest in it.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Mark Westfield?
Probably not, sort of depends on what the book is about and who its written by.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
    No.
    It's crap
Narrator sucked. The story... Even tho it seemed to have potential.....but it didn't. Writing style was crude. Just overall terrible. Wouldn't recommend it at all
    Please change the narrator!!!
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The series started good but slowly losing its luster. Mark Westfield is a good narrator but not for this series.
What other book might you compare Ranger to and why?
I dabble in STHF books and Sci-fi. I read and listen to allot of these stories.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
His tone and delivery didn't match the story.
Was Ranger worth the listening time?
Worth it to move the story along... But left me wondering did it add to the story?!?

    Meh.
If you've made it this far in the series, may as well listen to the last one. The reader is better in this than he was in the last book when he took over, but it's still not as good as the original reader. The conclusion to the story is pretty mediocre, but if you've come this far...
    GRATE SERIES---HOW ABOUT A SEQUEL.
AN INTERESTING UNIVERSE YOU HAVE CONSTRUTED, IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW THE SEQUEL WILL PROCEDE AS YOU HAVE SURE LEFT IT OPEN. HOPE IT WILL INCLUED THE CHILDREN OF YOU INTERESTING MAIN CHARACTERS.
Hope there is another one in the series
The ending left enough room to allow for another book in the series, I hope the author writes one.
The final volume to a enjoyable series.
This book is on par with most of the previous books of the series. It is an enjoyable book with strong characters and political, social, as well as military struggles. It is a space opera in every sense of the genre, and if you like Battlestar Galactica mixed with Starship Troopers, you will enjoy this series quite a lot.
It is vital that you read/listen to the previous books or the story will not make much sense. The new narrator took some getting used to after 3 books by David Rheinstrom, but Liam Owen did a good job so no complaints there.
I was a bit apprehensive of the series at first, but I'm glad I picked this series up, well worth a read/listen.
Wish I had never started this series
What would have made Galactic Empire Wars: Insurrection better?
    Better story and ending
What was most disappointing about Raymond L. Weils story?
all of the books repeat same lines way too many times
What does Liam Owen bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
At least I can hear and have some understanding of what the book is saying
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Galactic Empire Wars: Insurrection?
At least half or more of the same words

    Unique Apocalyptic Tale
I can't even begin to explain the experience of The Raft. It's one of the most complex, unique Post Apocalyptic novels yet it's extremely accessible and engaging at the same time. Every time I thought I knew where it was going, it took I turn into even more intriguing territory. It's play on memory and post apocalyptic tropes made it like someone putting together a beautiful puzzle using pieces from different boxes. The narration was solid. James Patrick Cronin handled the bulk of the tale, getting the feel just right, acting as the guide to the story but never getting in the way. Julie McCay's segment was short but handled well.

    action from start to finish
the action continues through the whole book as the heroes fight a new threat. as usual the writing is great however most characters take a back seat to the main 2 which isn't bad just don't expect any character development. I enjoyed it and if you have already invested in the series you won't be dissapointed.
    Least favorite of the series
The book skips forward I think around 4 years and I really want to hear about events mentioned in the times between such as Denver. Seems like something happened with the relationship with Duncan and so there are gaps in story. I also felt a lot of it was predictable, but won't spoil that. I love the rest of the series so far, but feel this one in particular was lacking.
Book 4 and 5 should have been one book
What would have made Dead Surge better?
The author should have combine book 4 and 5, I feel cheated that it were two book rather than one...I hate buying these so call 5 hour books and then the next book that come out is 5 hours as well and realize that just one story broken up into two books just to make more money.
What was most disappointing about Joseph Tallutos story?
the story was perfect other than the author making you wait to get the complete story, I wish his next book be longer and a complete story.
What does Graham Halstead bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
He make the story come alive for the listener and I love how he change pitch of each characters
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Dead Surge?
none the story was great just sad that the author rather make money then tell a complete story.
    Any additional comments?
Please next time tell a complete story in one book rather charging the listener for two books and one story...this is my last 5 hours books I will purchase if you continue breaking up the stories.

Contained within are the mysterious Black Files, which may be the key to stopping the xenovirus before it is too late.
But one thousand miles of post-apocalyptic desert stand between the team and their goal, and human hostiles and killer dust storms are the least of their worries. They must make it to Bunker One before the winter snows bury it...and before anyone else can claim the files as their own.

Good but took a weird turn
the story took a weird turn and I hate how authors make a few 4 hour books. I do have to say I am buying the next book to see it to the end.
