  • 3-2-1 Sparkle - With Amanda Mills Sirois #177
Amanda Mills Sirois is back on our podcast this week. We asked Amanda back on our show for an update on how her Olympic run went. Amanda was not an official runner at the Olympic event but her best friend Allison, and another good friend Collin ran the Olympic course. It was an amazing experience and a great story. The 3-2-1 initiative, what is it and why is it important? Amanda helps answer those questions in this episode, sharing how she led her 13-year-old daughter with Down Syndrome along a 5 km route. There is so much in this episode and we know you will enjoy every minute so pull up a chair, take a load off, and enjoy.

  • What is your why? - With Alex Quinn #176
We have a great time when Alex Quinn sits down and chats with us. The subject matter can be tough to discuss but we feel this is a good place to discuss tough subjects and let everyone know you are not alone. This episode is brought up to help promote mental health awareness. We go back a little and Alex gives us some of his backstory. The 100-mile run Alex created and completed was around King Square in Saint John, helping to bring awareness to suicide prevention, and mental health awareness. A personal story for Alex and many people that we know and love.  Alex had a camera crew following him around for this epic journey and the movie they made is top-notch, titled, Running in Circles. A brilliant story and edited perfectly, I can't wait for our listeners to see this when it comes out of the film festivals and is available for public consumption, probably sometime this Summer. We cover many topics, far more than what I can mention here. We believe you will like this story and we are placing some very special links that Alex wants us to display at the bottom of this description. We hope you enjoy this very important episode.

  • Trail magic - With Lee Murphy #175
Diane and I are back doing podcasts and we are very happy to get back at it in 2025. Our first guest for the New Year is Lee Murphy from Nova Scotia. Lee loves running longer distances, Ultramarathons and Backyard Marathons are what get Lee going. We learn how Lee started running and how it has become addictive for him, far better than what Lee was addicted to earlier on in life. His running streak of 807 consecutive days of running 10 km or more is still going strong and we can't wait to see how many days Lee will go. Lee recently ran a Backyard Ultra in Edmundston for 68 consecutive hours and he won the event, amazing. Lee and his wife Kate keep their children, work, running and their business balanced through teamwork. The link to their amazing cottages is below, feel free to check out Anchorage House & Cottage next time you take a trip to Nova Scotia. There is a lot more packed in this episode so why not pull up a chair and listen for a spell, after that go for a run.

  • Santa is one tough cookie - With Santa Claus #174
We want to thank everyone who listened to any of our shows and tell everyone we will be back with more episodes in the New Year. We plan on making the episodes shorter, less scripted, and on a semi-regular basis, but the hope is that they seem more like discussions and less like reading.
For our first episode in 6 months, we have our most popular guest ever and he is indeed BACK!  Santa Claus himself has agreed to come back on our show for the fifth time and we couldn't be happier. A great holiday message so grab some Hot Chocolate and have a listen and just relax, you have earned it.

  • Don't get me crying in my T shirt - With Emma Belcher #173
Tonight for our final guest we want to chat with someone that everyone from the running community in our area knows, Emma Belcher. Emma is originally from England and moved here in 2008, she has played Soccer and Rugby most of her life. Emma is a big-time volunteer, giving so much to the community, on the board of Legs for Literacy here in Moncton. Emma ran the Ottawa Marathon in 2016. Having recently taught a learn-to-run group for free, Emma has her mojo back and we can't wait to ask her about lots of things running. This being our final episode Diane and I want to thank everyone who has been on and listened to our show, the pleasure has been all ours. So thanks everyone and hopefully we will see you all soon once again. Maybe we helped motivate a few people out there, after all, that is what it was all about, stay safe everyone.

  • Runner 3 2 1 - With Amanda Mills Sirois #172
Amanda Mills Sirois is our special guest this week and it is exciting to have her on our show. Amanda started running indirectly because of a 5km wine run, and things took off from that point. With her running partner Allison, they ran the Ottawa marathon and came close to qualifying for Boston. Hired a coach to help with qualifying, job done. Raised money in support of Down Syndrome and ran the legendary Boston Marathon. Amanda was not done yet, not even close. Managed to run all 6 of the major marathons in 4 years, how does one top that? Well Marathon Pour Tous in France, that's how. Recreational or non-elite athletes have been invited to participate in an Olympic event for the first time. Running the same course as the marathon athletes and with an Olympic medal in 2024, amazing.

  • Joyce the Catcher King - With Joyce King #171
Diane lined up a fantastic guest for our episode this week, Joyce King from Lower Hainesville N.B. Many of you don't know that Joyce was a champion arm wrestler. Even crazier is the fact Joyce started at the late age of 30. Skip ahead 10 years and Joyce defeated a Russian rival super heavyweight to become the best female arm wrestler in the world. I was unaware of this, but Joyce competed with her right and left arm over her career. Joyce earned 18 national championships and 18 World Arm Wrestling Federation medals, she won 12 gold, four silver, and two bronze medals. Inducted into the Canadian Arm Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2011. Inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, on October 15, 2021. Joyce the Catcher King was her nickname and for good reason. I don't want to spoil it here but you should listen to the episode and find out why the Catcher King is so appropriate. A wonderful episode and I am sure our audience will enjoy this one a ton.

  • Thornton Bridge Parkrun - With Bob Dumouchel #170
In this episode of Motivate to Move we chat with Bob Dumouchel, Bob loves staying active, cycling, and running just to name a few things. Bob volunteers for many local events and sometimes leads runners in half marathons while on his bike clearing the way. Bob chats with us about the Thornton Bridge Parkrun in Fredericton. What is a Parkrun you might ask? Parkrun is positive, welcoming, and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along. You can run, walk jog, and volunteer and it is a free event. This happens every Saturday at 9 AM all over the world. Very interesting to hear Bob tell us about everything Parkrun. You might want to get your barcode and head on up to the next free Parkrun. Hey, one never knows.

  • If you rest you rust - With Michele Banks #169
What an amazing interview we have for everyone in tonight's episode. Michele Banks is certified in canoeing, Kayaking, and first aid. Michele is also certified in wilderness and outdoor recreation training  Michele holds a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Education, and A master of science education.  Coaches and teaches, works with Ducks Unlimited, the list goes on and on and we ask her about many of these things plus we ask what it was that Michele did in 2023. • Chasing Trails and fighting Bears - With Brandon Thompson and Geoff Leblanc #168
Tonight we have two very special guests with us from the Chasing Trails podcast, and we will be linking their wonderful podcast in our show notes below. Diane and I love running and both of us love to listen to podcasts so why not have the best of both worlds on our show? We welcome Brandon Thompson and Geoff Leblanc from Chasing Trails and we were very happy they agreed to come on our show and chat a little about them and about their excellent podcast. The more people we have listening the more likely someone out there may hear about running and keeping active and head on out to an activity, that is the real goal. Brandon and Geoff are easy to listen to and have a passion for running on the trails and keeping others active. When you listen to this episode you may want to get some trail running shoes and head out. A great community and a great way to keep on moving.
