I don’t normally cover parenting topics on this podcast, but, I want to have a conversation with you about how I changed something that wasn’t working for me. My son got to a point, when he was about 8 months old, that he was waking up about every HOUR, and every hour I would go in his room, nurse him for a few minutes in the rocking chair, and put him back in his crib. Eventually, of course, I’d just end up bringing him my bed, and nursing him all night, in desperation of trying to get some sleep. Well THIS wasn’t working for me. And I decided to take charge of the situation and do something about it. I needed to get some sleep. This episode is a conversation I had with our pediatric sleep consultant, Anna Clifford, and how we got my son sleeping through the night. If you are in a phase where you’re NOT dealing with kids keeping you up through the night, then feel free to completely skip this episode, but just know, that if there is something in your life that is causing you constant irritation, that is keeping you from being able to show up fully, you can change it. You have more power than you think, and you are oh so very capable. And that’s what I want to leave you with today. I haven’t had a picture perfect life. I have a unique story, with many chapters, and so do YOU. 

You have your own story, and you have a purpose. You have a purpose right now, and your purpose will evolve.

If you look back on your life, you can connect the dots of where you’ve been, and what you’ve gone through, and where it’s led you. It’s led you to where you are right now.

And maybe you’re going through something right now, and it doesn’t feel good. Maybe you’re going through something, and you feel like you’re barely hanging on by the skin of your teeth.

Maybe you don’t feel strong. Maybe you don’t feel capable. Maybe you have NO idea why you’re going through what you’re going through, or what it’s all going to lead to, or if you’re going to come out alive. 

But hear me when I say this: you haven’t come this far, to ONLY come this far. Someday, in a year from now, or 5 years from now, or maybe even sooner, maybe even three months from now, You WILL be able to look back, and connect the dots, and you WILL see how these challenges made you stronger. Even if you don’t feel it right now.

So honor your struggles. Honor your journey. Don’t look back, but if you look back, look to see how far you’ve come. Learn to be present, and enjoy the moment, but don’t forget to dream, about the future, and the life you want to CREATE and the woman you want to become.
