As our Future Classic for this Movie-GHOUL-Round, Nicole selected the haunting It Follows. Is the pursuing "It" a metaphor for STIs, the looming specter of adult responsibility, or death itself? Or is it just a demonic curse that likes to play with its prey before inevitably catching up to and killing them with Its no-no parts? Nicole, David, and Brett had a long chat with returning guest Patrick Walsh of ScreamQueenz: Where Horror Gets Gay, and GOLLY do we have some opinions about it!

In the first-ever Can We Just Talk About... week, a pick of Brett's won the coin toss. The panel continues Movie-Ghoul-Round 2021 with the 2006 horror classic, The Descent. We discuss the darkness and claustrophobic nature of this film alongside how bad of a friend Juno is. (Never go spelunking with unreliable friends!) Also, is the original British ending of this film superior to the American edit? We discuss all of this and more!

Tune in later this weekend for the next Movie-Ghoul-Round drop, a Future Classics pick from Nicole: It Follows.

Do you like horror? Do you like comedy? Do you like gross-out movies? Well, you are in luck, my friends!
We've kicked off this year's Movie-GHOUL-Round in grand(?) style. For New to Two, Brett chose the splatstick classic Dead Alive ("Braindead" in non-U.S. markets) for David and Nicole to watch for the first time. How did they deal with one of the goriest, squelchiest, goopiest films of all time?

You Did This to Us. We had to watch 2004's Catwoman. It features CGI cats, CGI Halle Berry, a Vaseline-lensed Sharon Stone, and a script written mostly by (sexist) committee. We even inflicted it on our guest, Patrick Walsh of ScreamQueenz: Where Horror Gets Gay, who said he was up for anything, but we may have gone too far. What did Patrick, Nicole, David, and Brett think of this would-be superhero flick? Is it the cat's pajamas, or a "Klingon" from the litterbox? Take a listen and find out!

How is this the first time we've tackled Jackie Chan? It's quite the introduction that David chose for his Around the World pick, and we had a lot to talk about: Some legendary stunt work, Jackie's trademark "I can make a weapon out of anything" style, his penchant for slapstick, and treatment of women both on and off camera. Also how this movie is very, very '80s. Come have a listen.

Brett proposed this film as a Future Classic -- did Nicole and David agree? We talk about this story of Jimmie Fails (playing a version of himself) and his friend Montgomery working to renovate and reclaim a mansion in San Francisco. What is this film about (other than exquisite house porn)? Which is more lovely -- the house, or the score? Is the ending satisfying? Join us and find out!

This round inaugurated our new NetPrime/Primeflix Roulette, as we included Amazon Prime streaming options in our randomizer for the first time. As a result, we watched the most recent Rambo movie, Rambo: Last Blood, marveling at its level of brutality (and Brett, David, and Nicole are not a squeamish bunch), obvious political slant, and plot holes big enough to let an entire cartel through the border. Is there anything redeemable to be found? Tune in and find out.

This round's New to Two was brought by Nicole, who believes this to be one of the most visually beautiful films ever made. Did David and Brett agree? We talked about the performances of Lee Pace and child actor Catinca Untaru, the hazards of movie stunt work in 1915, and the fascinating contrast between the verbal story-within-a-story the stuntman is telling versus how the little girl imagines it. Have a listen and see what you think.
Next week we watch a Netflix Roulette pick, Rambo: Last Blood.

You Did This to Us. You made us watch the weirdly beloved Encino Man. Some of our crew had affection for this movie, and some did not. But we all marveled at the neat trick of making Pauly Shore likable, and Sean Astin despicable. We discussed the hazards of digging pools by hand, the ever-present rap rock, the stereotypes aplenty, and the saga of Brendan Fraser, among other things. Come check it out!
Follow along with the show by watching our next film, a New to Two pick from Nicole, The Fall.

Russia's first superhero genre effort was Nicole's pick for our Around the World. Big, loud, and cheesy, this movie has a werebear in it. Do you really need to know anything else? What did David and Brett think? We talk about the confusing timeline, everyone's traumatic backstories, the inconsistent quality of the special effects, the film's poor reception, and, of course, FULL BEAR MODE. You won't want to miss this one.
