Welcome to the latest MSC Podcast, with Coach Coulson and Coach Rogers! Todays topic is "Conditioning".
The lads discuss how to build and improve individual energy system performance and how to programme progressions into your training blocks.
They also discuss the differences and the considerations that need to be counted for between training various systems, such as output vs capacity, and how to develop these.
Also, they analyse the difference between training for fat loss and training for performance, and also how to fit conditioning sessions in and around your strength training while minimising the interference effect!
We hope you enjoy this weeks episode.
This week Mark and Ben answer questions sent in by our followers. They start by discussing how to go about choosing supplements to use for a pre-workout. This is followed by their thoughts on stretching and if it is applicable for team sports athletes. To finish, accessory exercises and how to progressively overload them is discussed.
This week, Sona and Mark present "Nutritional Considerations: Part 2", developing on and expanding from our recent nutrition podcast.
After a quick recap of the first podcast, they discuss in detail the importance of considering individuality, based around bodyweight, goals, and activity levels. Within this, are we making the best choices when it comes to how to use our daily calorie allowance?
Also discussed is the use of sugars and sweets before and during sessions, and caffeine intake. There's no doubt caffeine is a performance enhancement, but does it have the desired effect if we are taking too much, and taking it before every single session...?
We hope you enjoy :-)
The boys are back for the this week's MSC podcast! in this week's episode, Coach Coulson and Coach Rogers discuss "Exercise selection and load management".
Topics discussed include how the coaches select the right exercises for the individual they're working with, based on varying factors such as experience level, anthropometrics, motor control and skill level, and specific goals. Also, how do we develop and progress a programme from a weekly selection of exercises, into a month long mesocycle block, and then how to progress that month into a longterm macrocycle.
Well worth a listen for anyone who wonders why we programme Barbell Club the way we do, and for anyone who wants to learn how to put a programme together.
Enjoy!
