Kriss, Ro, Brandon and Ashley get together to review The Kitchen, starring Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish and Elisabeth Moss. This film is a disappointment and lazy. There characters aren't fully developed, the storylines are rushed and the elements that make good mob films work just aren't there.

After a bit of a hiatus, Kriss is back with the Insanity Check. Between work and San Diego Comic-Con, we had to take most of July off. And of course when we come back it's to 2 mass shootings and...nuclear crocodiles. Yes...nuclear crocodiles. Put America in rice

Topics:

* Two mass shootings in 13 hours cause Go America

* If there was only something we could do about mass shootings

* There are too many Dem candidates and some of them need to go home

* Beto...run for the fucking Senate and stop wasting everyone's time

* Marianne Williamson is a crazy person why are we giving her a platform?

* Make the History Channel Great Again

* We're locking up American citizens in concentration camps

* Great Moments in White Privilege

* SHOCKING: Ronald Reagan was racist

* Do You Even Sci-Fi Bro?

* Nuclear crocodiles. Cause...why not?

I mean what can we say? Agents of SHIELD is really something special. Season 6 ended the only way an Agents of SHIELD season could...playing with our emotions, bringing an even bigger threat and of course...separating Fitz and Simmons. Seriously this was two intense hours. We get Deke finally making his grandfather proud, only to disappoint him later. We get Sarge killing May after the show made us (and May and Daisy) believe that maybe Coulson could be saved. Then they almost kill YoYo. Then they save May and YoYo. Then we don't even get a chance to breathe cause the Chromocons have taken the Lighthouse and killed a bunch of agents and to save everyone Simmons and most of the team jump to the past. And then there's LMD Coulson. Yes...LMD Coulson. Oh and did I mention that somewhere Piper is helping Flint mend his broken leg? There's so much to discuss about this episode as well as the possibilities for the future (Agent Peggy Carter possibly making an appearance next season?).

In the words of Dpalm, "How dare you!"

Kriss, Ro, Joi and Brandon are back to review Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Let's get this out of the way right now: You're going to enjoy this film. It's Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba and Vanessa Kirby in an action packed film that is right along with the rest of the Fast & Furious series. The problem is the same problem we've had with the last few Fast films: We really miss Justin Lin (Thank God he's coming for 9). When it comes to ridiculous action and being a popcorn film, this film works. The problem is (like with 7 & 8), the story gets overly complicated and starts leaning on actors to do things they aren't good at. Also, at some point, we need to really have a conversation about how Deckard Shaw isn't locked up in prison for all the people he killed in Fast 7 and why Owen Shaw is treated like Judy from Family Matters.

Overall you're going to enjoy the film and they will clearly be back and Hobbs & Shaw will continue to grow like the rest of the Fast franchise. But here's hoping we get better directors in the future.

Our first foray into micro-pods, our Character Corner Shorts are small bites that will serve to update existing Character Corners. While this seems like an excuse for us to read more about characters we already love, it's also a great way to talk about old favorites who have been positioned to be even more important in the future.

This episode, we head to Gotham to reconnect with the Robin of my youth, Tim Drake. Biting my tongue, we dig into not just the New 52 iteration of the character, but take a hard look at a lot of the character work done in the various Batman weekies and during James Tynion IV's Detective comics run. All leading to the newly launched Young Justice book written by Brian Michael Bendis. Get all caught up in just a few minutes with the best Robin, Tim Drake.

With Podcast Week looming, it was nice having an old friend on to recap the week's sports news. It was less nice hearing him whine about how Florida ruined my childhood, but we also discuss the all-powerful Barry Bonds, NFL Holdouts, The New York Football Giants, and the most exciting version of NBA Jam ever.
