Lacey Gaines was just 20 years old when her life was cut short inside her apartment in Justice, Illinois. A young mother with her whole future ahead of her, Lacey had recently started over: new boyfriend, new place, and plans for the future with her toddler son. But in December 2009, everything changed.

She was found brutally murdered in what should have been the safety of her own home. No forced entry. No signs of robbery. No immediate answers. Within hours, investigators were on the scene, but what they found only raised more questions.
