Should you be allowed meet an ex's new partner if kids are involved?

A regular listener to Dublin Talks is looking for advice. The mother of his two young children has a new partner and he wants to meet him.

Gary messaged us on Facebook and said they've been separated for about a year. They always put the kids first.

However, 3 months ago she started dating again and wants the kids to meet the new man.

Gary is concerned as he only knows this man's first name. He has asked his ex can he meet this man before he's introduced to the kids but she says it's none of his business.

He's wondering whether he's being unreasonable or has a right to ask this?
