"The problem is, social media has gotten us in the habit of looking better for our photos than for the occasion itself. This culture has bred an environment of comparison. We look at other people's “after” photos from their weight loss journey and we forget there are an extremely hard journey for that person to get there. We have to stop this comparison culture and start looking to our inner selves. 

 

The beautiful part about our God is that he sees us for who we truly are. There is no vanity in God's perception of beauty. 

 

God is looking for a gentle and quiet spirit. This doesn't mean that you are a quiet person who doesn't get to share an opinion, this means you are gentle with others. It means you listen to who they really are rather than what they appear to be. Take the time to get to know a person for their actions and desires. Get to know a person for everything they can become in this life."

"Do you have faith that your best days of personal strength and physique are ahead of you? Then you need to remove the bad eating habits, start going to bed earlier, and create a consistent working out habit. We have to stop sitting and praying and then wait for your new habits to just fall out of the sky. 

 

Creating habits are among the harder things to accomplish, but it is possible. Everyday we make new habits it's just a matter if they are healthy habits that work alongside your faith or are they preventing you to water the seeds you are planting. 

 

Today, I pray you find about 15 minutes to sit down and write down everything that you are praying for. I know this season brings new obstacles as most of our interaction and growth among people have become digital, but now, more than ever, our faith needs action. So write down those goals and come up with habits that will allow you to foster an environment to see your faith come to life."

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read through 2 Corinthians 12:9 and we lean on God when we have had a long week or are in the middle of a tough season. 

"But how many of us know that is the worst thing we can do for our cars. Running low on gas is not a good quality, it effects the life of the car. One time? No big deal, but prolonged neglect of putting gas in your car can cost you a lot of money in repairs down the line.  

The same thing happens to us. When we run on empty, we stop praying, we stop celebrating, we stop being present. We are irritated, ungrateful, we can't see the blessings in our life. It starts to feel like “it will always be this way” and start saying things like “when is my big break coming”.  

This verse is a gift. It's a reminder. When we are weak, he is strong. There is no one else in the world that can help you the way he can. It allows us to change the narrative. Instead of saying “when is my big break coming” we can confidently say “I know this was a long week, but my God is good. He is making a way for me, and while I am in the waiting I will stay grateful, I will stay engaged, I will look for blessings in the every day because my God is powerful”  

So let us boast in our weakness like this verse says! Let the world know that even when you are tired, weak, had a rough day, a bad week at work, or are in the middle of what seems to be like the worst season of your life, God is good. God is powerful. God is in control, God has the ability to see you through every situation. Give it to him!"

"The same thing happens to me when I eat a bag of chips. Somehow my body can fit 50 chips yet I am still hungry once I hit the bottom of the bag. 

 

Why? Well because although I am eating I lack nutrition. 

 

The same thing happens to our spirit when we go looking for validation on social media. We are filled with love but still running on empty. 

 

No substance in this world, no platform or program can leave you whole and complete. 

 

You must seek the Lord and then and only then will you lack no good thing. 

 

I love that they specify "no good thing" because that indicates there could be other things that you lack when you decide to seek him."

"In the last few years cellphones have become our lifeline of connection. Check your screen time, and just see how many hours your spend on there. It's how you communicate with your family, friend, and strangers alike.  

These verses are telling us that God gave us the Holy Spirit. It's his connection to you.Think about it the Holy Spirit is like God's personal cellphone that given freely to you. You didn't have to pay Apple $1,000 to get it. It can't fall out of your pocket and crack. It's inside you and it's how he communicates with you.  

Just like every morning I pour myself a cup of coffee, He pours his love directly to your heart. I can't get through a morning without my lattes but most importantly I can't get through life without acknowledging the love residing inside me. Everything you need He has given to you.  

My prayer today is that we start waking up and we allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us. Let it fill us. Allow Him to speak to you every morning. Allow Him the time to spend alone with you. Your life will change. Your character will change. Your hope will increase. Your faith will increase. "

Picture your plans. They are like flowers in a field. So many dreams and so many prayers you plant every day. Now picture that same field of flowers and when you look up it has a forest of trees behind it and when you look beyond the forrest you see majestic mountains. Those are God's plans for your life."

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we turn to the bible to talk about Legacy. What is a legacy? How do we leave behind a legacy?

"The greatest legacy of all time is the story of Jesus Christ. The Holy Bible has been translated in 698 languages. His story has been told for thousands of years. He walked this planet over 2,000 years ago yet every single day someone new encounters him and his story in a new way.  

There are obviously other legacies, different families that have made good (and even bad) impressions on the world. Look at the name Ford, or the name Washington. Whether it's a brand of car, or a person who forever changed a country, the time we have on this planet is precious and what you do with it has the potential to outlive you for hundreds of years.  Our greatest shot at leaving a legacy however, is what we instill in the generation behind us. How will you raise your children, or teach the people who look up to you for mentorship. You are always someone to somebody.  

Now, people will always tarnish your good works, it's just what they do. They may misinterpret your words. Look at Jesus. There have been many times where people fight for quote on quote love with hate. It's was the very reason Jesus died for us, yet so many misinterpret his work.  Our job isn't to worry about how our actions will be perceived, our job is to instill greatness in the generations behind us. We are to do good work. We are to do Kingdom work, and if you do kingdom work what will happen is a ripple affect that will give people hope to do what they were called to do, and so on and so fourth. 

So raise your children with love and light. Teach them what it means to be a good person. Follow your dreams and take care of the people God has placed in your inner circle. Be a good CEO, be a good mentor, be a good mom, a good sister a good brother. Be someone people love to work with.  What you'll see is that your actions will outlive you."

Together let's study what being a child of God and a child of light should look like.

"We are all children of the light. We have it inside us. It was given to us by the Father, he lives inside us. If we are children of the light, and we do not have darkness is us, why is it so easy to feed our flesh?  We all perceive ourselves to be good people. But sometimes it's ego driven, we want to look good, feel good. 

But "doing good to look good" is almost like a double negative. You can't do good, to be praised. You must do good because it's who you are.  We need to start carrying a new identity. Stop telling yourself you are a person that does good because it's what you should do. 

We need to start carrying ourselves with the identity of "A child of the Light" we are children of God.  We don't do good because it's the right thing to do.  We do good because it's who we are. We were born with love and light inside us. Together we can shed light in this dim world. "
