"I remember the first time I had heard the word. It really wasn't that long ago. Maybe two years at max, but it's a term that Social Media profiles with huge numbers of followers has coined as what they do. 

 

They influence large groups of people to buy clothes or eat from certain restaurants. Average people are essentially getting sponsored and paid to talk about certain products. 10 years ago, only athletes and celebrities had that kind of income. 

 

But here we are in 2020, and every kid growing up wants to be an influencer.

 

Somewhere along the way the term was misunderstood. Somewhere along the way, only people with 10k followers could be labeled a person with influence. But the term Influencer is nothing new to God. His people have been influencers since the very beginning."

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read James 4:7 which says "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

"To be honest, our society sometimes makes me questions my goals and aspirations. I can fall into this harmful way of thinking. We are breeding a generation that relies on comparison to get us through the day. “I have to lose weight, look at how much that person lost in quarantine" or “I have to work harder, look at that super successful new business she launched in the middle of COVID" 

 

This year has been hard on everyone. Today is a new day, to tackle new problems. The last thing you need to do is give into temptation. The enemy will tempt you that comparing yourself to others feels good. The enemy will tempt you into doing his work for him. He will tempt you into spreading gossip, and to  relay on our fears rather than our faith. 

 

But this verse is saying to submit to God. 

 

Nothing in this life is perfect. Your journey is yours to walk. Being alive today means you survived another day in this crazy life, and God isn't done writing your story. So keep leaning on Him. Stop looking to the world, stand against the devil. He doesn't want whats best for you. He never has."

"This verse is an affirmations. It affirms all of your hard word. 

 

This year has been a wild year, but I have seen all of my friends work so hard. My best friend went back to school to pursue her dream career, some of my friends have started side businesses, others of you have started to teach your kids while working. A lot of us have taken the time to be diligent in our prayers. 

 

The thing about labor is that, it is just like planting seeds in a garden. Working is the equivalent of pruning leaves, removing pesticides, caring for the soil. 

 

As we work towards something, it's always easy to hit the breaking point and think to yourself that you can't move on. Almost every task, job, project, will bring you to a point where you've hit a wall and you don't want to continue further. 

 

I am here to remind you to keep going. Keep teaching those kids, keep fighting for your clients, keep working on your prayers, keep working on your business, keep striving in school… because right on the other side of labor, is fruit..."

"As we start a new day and a new week, it is important that cling onto this verse. May we not allow anything to contaminate the body or the spirit. Everyone has their vice. People struggle with habits, substances, and platforms that poison them. Whatever your crutch is, I pray you have the strength to let that go.  Do not give into that bottle, that app, that magazine, that vide game, those people, that tv show, that music, those horrible self harming thoughts, that substance.  

Purify yourself from what harms you. It's time we clean ourselves, and remove those dust bunnies you may not even know is there. 

Maybe its as simple as less time scrolling on IG. Maybe it's as hard as breaking a 15 year addiction. What ever it is, God has a promise for your life."

"This year has left us all a little shaken. We didn't leave our homes for weeks some of us months. We've lost people close to us. We're living with new rules and regulations. Our kids are going to school online. It's a tough year.

 

But God is so good. He is so good. He is using everything I know it. So as this verse says, don't be a slave to man. Don't give into the news, don't let people's opinions steal your mood, don't give into the trap of comparison on social media. Yes, stay informed. Yes, stay protected. But remember, the only person we need to turn to when we are frustrated, sad, depressed, anxious, happy, excited, grateful, annoyed, etc. is Him."

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we ready out of Psalm 127:1 which says "Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain."

"We are all building a life. We are all in different seasons. Some of us are starting college, others are in the height of their careers, some of us are just starting. Some of us are starting to grow a family and others kids have just grown to the age of leaving their home to start their lives. 

 

I don't know what season you are in, but every step of the way God is the architect of your life. He is building your house. But we need to be cautious not to take every single opportunity that arises. We need to know when it's a God door and when it's not. 

 

This verse really stuck out for me. It's a principle I like to remind myself pretty often. If God doesn't build the house, the builders labor in vain… aka if God didn't ask you to go through that door, or build that dream, all of your hard work has been for nothing..."
