My Tips and Top Picks for Dresses for Mother-of-the Bride (and Bride-to-Be)

Listen Later

This week I am sharing my tips and top picks for finding fabulous wedding attire, whether you are the mother-of-the-bride (MOB) or the bride-to-be!

Episode At A Glance:

This week on The SavvyCast, I am discussing all things wedding attire. Some of you may know that our precious daughter, Jud, recently got engaged, so we are in full wedding planning mode! In this episode I share my savviest tips for dress shopping, whether you are the MOB or the bride-to-be. Additionally, I share some of my “top picks” for dresses and shoes that I have found so far.

My Best Tips:
  1. Start dress shopping 8 – 12 weeks in advance. This will give you plenty of time to find something you love, and it’ll give you time to have any dress altered.

  2. Shop for multiple dresses. You’ll need one for the bridal tea/shower, one for the rehearsal dinner, in addition to a wedding day dress.

  3. Use Rakuten when shopping to save money.

  4. If you’re on the fence about which size to purchase with a certain dress, purchase one in both sizes if you can. Then, you can return whichever size doesn’t fit.

  5. When shopping online, use the filter to show only the dress options you are truly interested in. For example, I like sleeveless dresses for summer weddings, so I would use the filter to only show me sleeveless dresses. This can be the most efficient way of dress shopping because it will only show what you’re looking for.

  6. Keep in mind about the return policies for the dresses you purchase.

  7. I recommend purchasing a Spanx thong. It helps keep everything in while also not having any underwear lines.

My Favorite Brands:
  • Shoshanna
  • Theia
  • Ricky by Terry John
  • Likely
  • MILLIE
  • BLDN
My Top Picks:
  • Fabulous Dresses for MOB’s, brides, or guests
  • My favorite wedding shoes
