Ellen is watching award shows (the SAG Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards) to ready herself for the main event (the Oscars) in two weeks. She is also reading The Overstory by Richard Powers, which she loves.

They take a question from Betsy. Betsy feels like she is going through a mid-life crisis. These past few years, her family has withstood a hurricane of sad losses, including her job. She has taken some time off to try to steady her ship, and it is almost time to go back to work. She wants to be very intentional with her next moves and set the right example for her children. More than anything, she wants to be happy and fulfilled again.
