Episode 034: Mike Guevara, also known as Mike G, joins me on the podcast to share the thought process behind creating NBA workouts.
Mike G provides performance coaching expertise for athletes looking to maximize their abilities during competition as well as in their daily lives. He's a certified strength and conditioning coach as recognized by the NSCA among many other certs:
Mike started coaching in the performance field in 2008. Upon graduating from Cal State Northridge with a B.S. in Exercise Science, 2010, he worked as a performance intern and then coach at The Factory Training for 5 years.
After a short stint of independent training, He was offered ownership and served as Director of Performance at The Factory Training where he oversaw and serviced multiple NFL, NBA, and MLB athletes along with youth, high school, and college athletes.
In late 2011 to 2013, Mike received an opportunity to work and travel with then, world WTA #5 ranked Victoria Azarenka as her personal Performance Coach. After 2 1/2 years, Victoria captured 51 weeks of a world #1 ranking and two Australian Open Titles among many other career accomplishments. He was asked to return to the team in Jan 2016 and helped her achieve the “Sunshine Double” which only two other woman in WTA history was able to achieve.
After owning the Factory, he moved on to become Jrue Holiday of the New Orleans Pelicans full-time performance coach and has since then worked with multiple NBA athletes including Anthony Davis, Jahlil Okafor, Mike James, and Rajon Rondo to name a few. Coach Mike G continues to strive daily to make people and coaches as great as they choose to be.
Today we chat about his experience training NBA, college and high school basketball players. Here are some of the highlights:
