It's night one of a 5-part series highlighting our studio/offices at The Kitchen, for the 2nd annual This is NOT a Happy Hour event series.
The podcasts this week are more of a talk-show environment with people from all over the industry stopping by the podcast to chat about what they do and what's going on in the Food and Beverage community right now.
Why isn't this a Happy Hour? NC ABC Liquor laws do not allow alcohol to be discounted at any specific time during the day, thus we aren't allowed to have that magical discounted time from 4-7pm when people gather at their local eateries/bars to network, socialize or just satiate their bellies, at the end of a long workday.
It's a fun, short listen each day, packed with information and entertainment. Eat & Drink Merrily!

Cooking in the South doesn't necessarily mean being from the South. Vivian takes her experience and credibility from "A Chef's Life "and uses it to shed light on other cultures that have brought their food to the south. Listen into this show and watch "Somewhere South", you might not find it all that dissimilar. Hand-pies, porridge, dumplings and more.

Bad boys, bad boys 'whatchu gonna do when they rum for you...?This episode features Eric Tansey, founder and owner of Instill Distilling Company in Visit Johnston County ! Eric tells us that the most important values the distillery tries to instill are hard work and putting family first, as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle - no "take shots and get wild" action here. We also talk to Eric about how he, along with two friends, built the distillery from the ground up using YouTube videos, and how opening it conflicted with his former position as a Raleigh police officer. Tune in tomorrow to hear all of Eric's riveting story!

Nancy Irelan left a cushy corporate and sunny California job with E&J Gallo. Why did Nancy leave? Nancy and her husband Mike wanted to touch the dirt, and see grape vines again. They gave up sunny California for the cool and glacial winds of Western New York's Finger Lakes Region to make wine.
In 2005 Nancy and her husband began Red Tail Ridge Winery. In the last 14 years not only has Nancy notched a James Beard Award nomination, additionally titans of the wine industry have followed on Nancy's heels to make wine in the finger lakes. Folks such as Paul Hobbs, Johannes Selbach, Louis Barruol and more.
Learn about Pinot Noir Pet-Nat, grape genetics and why riesling is so damn exciting!
