猜猜看，在台灣狗狗汪汪叫，到了美國變成什麼呢? 狗在台灣汪汪叫，在美國則變成了 woof woof；Dogs go woof.
Woof 與許多狀聲詞一樣，本身也可以當成動詞「吠」，The dog woofed at me. = 狗狗對我吠。
不過 貓咪就很像我們的中文啦!喵喵叫，英文也是一樣ㄉ聲音 meow 。
So cats go meow. 那跟 woof 一樣，meow 也可以當動詞。除了 meow 之外，英文還常會用purr 來形容貓滿足時發出的呼嚕呼嚕的嗚嗚聲，
再來也是很類似的牛叫聲，中文是哞哞叫，在美國 moo moo. Cows go moo.

爸爸媽媽給孩子的零用錢最常見的翻譯有allowance或是pocket money。
但如要區分兩者，allowance指的比較是用在固定時間給的零用錢，而且是美式英語的用法，for example, the mother gave her daughter a weekly allowance of $60. 媽媽給女生每星期60元。

而pocket money則是比較英式的說法，同樣也有零用錢的意思，那如果要表示 "我想要把我的零用錢存下來"則可以說I want to save my pocket money. (save 存錢)，or I saved my allowance to buy a video game. 我把我的零用錢存下來買電動遊戲。
