The 'Avengers: Doomsday' Surprise Was Not a Trailer

After directors Joe and Anthony Russo sent the Marvel fandom into a frenzy by cryptically teasing that an Avengers: Doomsday drop was imminent, the actual reveal left some fans a bit disappointed. The article confirms that the highly hyped "surprise" was not the first official teaser trailer or any video footage from the movie. Instead, the drop turned out to be a piece of promotional key art/merchandise establishing the film's official logo and teasing Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom aesthetic. While the art is striking, the lack of actual cinematic footage proved that the Russos are still keeping the movie's biggest secrets tightly guarded.

Masters of the Universe' Movie Review

Nerdist’s review for the live-action Masters of the Universe praises director Travis Knight for successfully pulling off the seemingly impossible: balancing 1980s Saturday-morning cartoon camp with genuine emotional stakes. The review highlights the spectacular world-building of Eternia and the heavy use of practical sets that honor the original Mattel toys. Nicholas Galitzine is praised for bringing a surprisingly earnest, heroic heart to Prince Adam/He-Man, while Jared Leto’s terrifying, scene-chewing performance as Skeletor provides the movie with an incredibly formidable, magic-wielding antagonist.

Brenda Meeks Takes Over Letterboxd to Call Modern Horror "Very Unfunny"

In a brilliant piece of viral marketing for the upcoming Scary Movie 6, Paramount has created an official Letterboxd account for Regina Hall’s beloved, outspoken character, Brenda Meeks. The article highlights Brenda's hilariously scathing reviews of modern "prestige" horror films. Taking aim at elevated horror hits like Hereditary, Midsommar, and Longlegs, Brenda leaves one-star ratings, heavily critiques the characters' terrible survival instincts, and bluntly dismisses the terrifying films for being "very unfunny."

Zack Snyder to Remake John Carpenter’s 'Escape from New York'

StudioCanal’s previously announced modern reboot of Escape from New York has officially found its director: Zack Snyder. The divisive, visually ambitious filmmaker is set to remake John Carpenter’s 1981 dystopian sci-fi action classic. The article notes that Snyder will be bringing his signature gritty, highly stylized, slow-motion aesthetic to the story of the iconic, eye-patch-wearing antihero Snake Plissken as he navigates a maximum-security prison version of Manhattan. Casting for who will take over the legendary role from Kurt Russell has not yet been announced.

'The End of Oak Street' Trailer: Suburbia Meets Dinosaurs

Warner Bros. has released a pulse-pounding new trailer for The End of Oak Street, the highly anticipated sci-fi thriller directed by David Robert Mitchell (It Follows) and produced by J.J. Abrams. The footage leans heavily into the film's wild premise: an ordinary 1980s suburban neighborhood is inexplicably teleported directly into a hostile, prehistoric jungle. Starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as parents desperately trying to protect their kids, the trailer promises a tense, survival-horror adventure where picket fences and station wagons are no match for hungry, roaming dinosaurs.

Robert Pattinson Debuts a Wild New Voice in A24's 'Primetime' Trailer

A24 has released the first official trailer for Primetime, a dark, pulse-pounding thriller directed by Lance Oppenheim (Ren Faire, Some Kind of Heaven). The film stars Robert Pattinson as an intense, Chris Hansen-esque investigative TV journalist whose To Catch a Predator-style reality show plunges him dangerously deep into the criminal underworld. As with many of his recent roles (The Lighthouse, The Boy and the Heron), the biggest takeaway from the footage is Pattinson’s wildly eccentric, transformative "new voice." The trailer highlights his fully committed, bizarre vocal choices as he confronts predators on camera, promising a gritty, stylized exploration of true-crime journalism, sensationalist media, and the dangerous blurred lines of reality television.
