Nightmare on Film Street - A Horror Movie Podcast

Join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon as they Dance The Dance of Another while discussing Jordan Peele's Us (2019). While dance was a means to cast spells in our first feature, Suspiria (2018), dance is a means of liberation in this doppelgänger horror where the clones mobilze and fight back! It's a movie that's as secretly complex as it is deceptively eerie.

Featuring two brilliant performances from Lupita Nyong'o & Winston Duke, the fastest home invasion in cinematic history, and one of the best damn soundtracks of the decade, Us was an instant hit and has only grown in appreciation over time.

In this casually obsessed chat, we explore some of the wilder internet theories surrounding its controversial climax, we dive deep into the dark psychology of The Tethered, and (of course) fan girl over how this dang movie crafted some of the most instantly iconic moments of horror. Join ussssss...

Welcome to the Nightmare on Film Street horror movie podcast, where this week, we’re diving broom-first into Luca Guadagnino's Suspiria (2018). Buckle up, because we're not just tiptoeing around the dance floor – we're breaking down every pirouette and whispered conspiracy in this bewitching remake!

In this episode, your horror hosts Kimmi and Jon obsess over the hauntingly beautiful yet perplexing layers of Suspiria. Prepare to have your mind tangled like the film's confuddling plot as we explore the maze-like halls of the Markos Dance Academy. Is it just a dance school, or a front for something more sinister? We examine every clue, from the twisted choreography to the unsettling color palette, and ask: what does it all mean?!

Our conspiracy corkboard is brimming with theories. Why the Cold War setting? What's with the secret language of the witches? And, for the love of horror, let's talk about Tilda Swinton's triple role. We analyze the bewildering symbolism, the eerie score, and the film's unapologetic divergence from Dario Argento's original Suspiria (1977). Is Guadagnino's version a straightforward remake, or is it hiding a darker secret in its shadows?

Join us as we enthusiastically dissect the film's intricate narrative, getting lost (and found) in its hypnotic maze. We debate, we theorize, and yes, we're totally confused – but in the best possible way. This episode is for both the dedicated horror aficionado and the casual viewer who left the theater asking, "What did I just watch?"

It's the return of the remake this week on the horror movie podcast for the casually obsessed. Join your horror hosts Kim & Jon for a trip back in time to the early 2000s when major studios and horror movie producers began remaking some of horror's most celebrated classics for a new generation. Matthijs van Heijningen Jr's The Thing brought us back to the cold, creeping dread of the arctic tundra for one of the most controversial, and confusing remakes of the era.

We've got a soft spot for the early 2000s remakes but re-shoots, re-writes, and a heart-breaking decision to replace practical effects with CGI in post has made The Thing a hard movie to love. Unless of course you wanna see Mary Elizabeth Winstead kill an alien monster with a flamethrower or get up close look at The Thing in a super gory autopsy sequence. And why wouldn't you!? Join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon on this week's episode of Nightmare on Film Street for a true midnight madness classic from Italian Horror Master Lucio Fulci. Abandon all hope as we enter The City of The Living Dead (1980), a satanic freak fest of gore, guts, and ghouls. It's a wild ride a nightmarish insanity where psychics are buried alive, boyfriends have their brains squeezed out of their skulls, and a poor girl vomits every single one of her organs. It's a movie that really shouldn't work, but (according to one of us) it's somehow defies the odds and delivers the goods. Join ussss

In honor of that little devil on your shoulder, already trying hard to talk you out of your New Year resolutions, we're kicking off a double-feature of hellfire and satanic evil on this week's episode of Nightmare on Film Street. Join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon as they hail Satan and discuss The Sentinel (1977). We had originally planned on watching this eyebrow raising hidden gem for fun (gasp!) but we had such a good time that we needed to sit down and chat about it with our fellow fiends. You wanna see a movie with a bunch of kooky weirdos throwing a birthday party for a cat? How about a nightmare sequence with a naked old man or a handful of haunted priests with piercing white eyes?? The power of The Sentinel compels you!

It's the end of the world as we know it. You feelin' fine? Join your horror hosts Kimmi and Jon for Nightmare on Film Street's final episode of 2023 as they discuss the wildly misguided action-horror hybrid End of Days (1999). Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as a burly bodyguard for the devil's "girlfriend" and an unrestrained Gabriel Byrne as Satan himself, this late 90s battle of good vs evil is truly Y2Krazy. Take a biblical breather with us as we wave goodbye to an unforgettable year of horror, and welcome in what is sure to be another 12 months of stress, fear, and apocalyptic doom. Join ussss...

In this week's Yuletide-tacular episode of the Nightmare on Film Street Horror Movie Podcast, ho-ho-hold onto your seats as we unwrap the chilling classic Black Christmas (1974). Yes, fellow horror hounds, Santa’s not the only one coming down the chimney this season! Our merry scary hosts Kimmi and Jon invite you for a festive frightfest, taking an interesting detour from cheer and eggnog to unnerving phone calls and uninvited guests in the attic.

As the sorority sisters at Pi Kappa Sigma start receiving anonymous, disturbing phone calls, their Christmas spirit morphs into a chilling horror story, and one of the best slashers of all time (and one of the first!) What starts as a jolly holiday gathering quickly descends into a cat-and-mouse game with a mysterious predator, who may or may not be named Billy.

Join Kimmi & Jon as they delve into Bob Clark’s skillful direction, the gripping performances (including Olivia Hussey, Margot Kidder, John Saxon, Keir Dulley, and Andrea Martin), and a plot that's naughty, nice, and downright nightmare-inducing.

For those who want their tinsel served with a side of terror, Nightmare on Film Street is the best horror movie podcast this holiday season. Pull up a chair, pour some hot cocoa (with a slip of schnapps), and let's dissect this horror gem that narrates a chilling tale with a ho-ho-horrific twist!

Happy Holidays and welcome to Bob Clark's Creepy Christmas Spooktactacular, hosted by Nightmare on Film Street. Join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon for a freakshow variety show like no other, jam-packed with musical numbers, cocktail tutorials, and uh- sad discussions about the horrors of the Vietnam war.

Sprinkled in there, we're also talking about the subtle, haunting brilliance of Bob Clark's Deathdream (aka Dead of Night)- the understated precursor to his classic Black Christmas (1974). Sure, it's not *technically* a Christmas movie we've got some pretty strong arguments for why this maybe-vampire, possibly-zombie, definitely-trauma laden chiller might just be a secret holiday horror.
