We had to save this modern monster movie for our finale episode because if we opened with it like we originally planned, you would have guessed the secret theme before we made it to episode 2. Join ussss with us as we dissect Robert Eggers re-imagining of the classic vampire story, parse the hidden meanings and visual language of his macabre fairy tale, and reveal the winners of our season long giveaway!

Did you know that David Cronenberg directed a Christmas movie? It's kinda bleak and insanely brutal, but Eastern Promises (2007) is totally a holiday movie, as long as you're okay with your holiday movies having a naked knife fight, multiple slit throats, and a gang of ruthless Russian mobsters.

On this week's episode of Nightmare on Film Street your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon dissect what some might consider the best (and least f*cked-up!) movie of David Cronenberg's career. Eastern Promises is not for the faint of heart but also, if you ask Kim, features a romance for the ages between Naomi Watts and Viggo Mortensen as a slick bad guy stud muffin with metal AF tattoos. Join ussssss

Spoiler Alert! The Terminator (1984) is a slasher film. You can disagree all you want but on this week's episode of Nightmare on Film Street, your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon (well, mostly just Jon. Kimmi might still be unconvinced) lay out their case and as to why James Cameron's monumental sci-fi/action stunner is totally a horror movie.

Here's a brief outline of the argument: The Terminator is a slasher villain because he is an unstoppable, expressionless killing machine, just like Michael Myers. He only walks but always catches up with his victims, just like Jason Voorhees (not to mention that bullets cannot stop him). And maybe the most damning evidence of all- he's trying to stop two young lovers from having premarital sex by killing everyone around them with ruthless brutality! Still not convinced??? Happy Halloween, Horror Fans! We're closing out the spooky season this year with Ryan Spindell's The Mortuary Collection (2020), one of our favourite modern horror anthologies and the movie that introduced the world to Jacob Elordi half a decade before he was tapped to play Frankenstein's Monster by Guillermo Del Toro.

The Mortuary Collection (2020) is pure Halloween fun from start to finish, featuring tentacle monsters, dead kids, dead wives, an exploding d****, a banging soundtrack, and one hell of performance from Clancy Brown as a morose mortician/macabre storyteller. It's a wild ride of wickedly weird stories and a perfect spooky send off for the best damn holiday of the year. Join ussssss

On this week's episode of Nightmare on Film Street we're pulling a cult classic from the crates and carving out some time to discuss a lesser-known movie we believe deserves more attention- Just kidding, we're talking about Ari Aster's Midsommar (2019) y'all!

Join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon as they say goodbye to the grey, drab city and welcome the bright and inviting (but surprisingly deadly) world of the Hårga. Midsommar hit the horror world like ton of 72-year-old bricks that have fulfilled their purpose, and modern cinema was changed forever. Whether you're still head over heels for this sun-soaked slow burn or you feel like the one person at the party who knows it's just a Wicker Man riff, you will feel held by this silly podcast. Join ussssss

We're ringing in the Halloween season with a modern horror re-imagining of the classic monster movie template on this week's episode of Nightmare on Film Street. Join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon as they discuss Frank Henenlotter's b-movie debut Basket Case!

Jon insists this is an undeniable grindhouse masterpiece, and an unrecognized Universal Monster movie, but Kim is pretty sure it's just a sleazy creature-feature about how teenage boys are gross, and their wieners turn them into monsters. Tune in now to hear both sides of this ludicrous argument and discover what's in the basket... Join ussssss
