  • Season 2 Episode 12: Omaima Nelson

    Season 2: Episode 13

Omaima Nelson moved to the United States from Egypt in 1986 by way of an oil tycoon. After a harsh upbringing, she finally had found her way. But the relationship abruptly ended, and Omaima found herself alone in a new country, with broken English and broken spirits. She soon began to use the company of men as her way of surviving, aided in part by her good looks and "exotic" nature. But on Thanksgiving day of 1991, Omaima made a choice that will live on in infamy. After being remarried, Omaima ended this relationship on no uncertain terms. She killed, cut, and cooked her husband...but did she eat him??

Join Andrea Up Late as she tells the story of Omaima Nelson and sex gone wrong. Was robbery the motive, as some say? Or were years of physical and sexual abuse to blame in this case of a snapped psyche?

  • Murder or Suicide? The Ellen Greenberg Case
    Season 2: Episode 8
    MURDER OR SUICIDE?
    The Ellen Greenberg Case
In January of 2011, Ellen Greenberg was working as a first grade teacher in Philadelphia. She was engaged to Sam Goldberg, a TV producer. One afternoon, Ellen was home early for work due to blizzard conditions in the area, and Sam decided to visit their apartment gym. But he returned to a scene that is in question to this day. Ellen had over 20 stab wounds, including 11 to the BACK OF HER HEAD AND NECK. The initial report listed Ellen’s death as homicide, but after a hushed meeting weeks later, the ruling was changed to suicide, and there it remains. But huge questions loom…not the least of which is: Why did Sam’s uncle, a political influence in town, remove laptops, cell phones, and Ellen’s purse before the scene was cleared? Was a pathology report forged, as is the claim? Did the newly prescribed Klonopin that Ellen was taking put her over the edge? Or do the healing bruises on her body indicate something more insidious in their relationship?

  • Hendricks Family Murders Part 2: Find the Reasonable Doubt

Topless orthotics models, stomach contents, and luminol...

In this part 2, we re-explore the murders of Susan, Becky, Grace, and Benjamin Hendricks. The 30 year old mother and her three children were violently murdered - with an axe and a butcher knife. While the killer would have undoubtedly been bloodied beyond comprehension, the scene was remarkably clean. Where, though, was David Hendricks, the husband and father to this slaughtered family? We know he went on a business trip...but was it before or after they were killed? He was convicted, it was also overturned. In this episode, I am joined by retired homicide Lieutenant, @BCSanders, and we discuss if there was ever proof of murder beyond a reasonable doubt, regardless of which way you may lean in the court of public opinion.

  • Playpen to Prison: FBI's Youngest Informant: White Boy Rick

    Season 2: Episode 5

Rick "White Boy" Wershe: CHILD turned INFORMANT
What do cocaine, Beverly Hills Cop, Tim the Tool Man Taylor, and the FBI have in common?
It was the early '80's, and the war on drugs was in full swing. Nancy Reagan toured schools throughout the US to remind children to "JUST SAY NO." The push to get drugs off the streets superseded almost all else. In fact, to be on the hook for a drug charge was to be punished more severely than with violent crime. Enter....the FBI.
In Detroit, Michigan, in 1984, Robert Wershe Jr was passing his time with the wrong crowd. He learned that selling drugs provided fast cash. He came from a broken home and was missing his mother terribly. But the FBI saw something different. They saw a way to get all the intel they wanted, be it at the hands, and potentially LIFE, of a child.
Tune in as she talks to this week's cohost, @bcsanders, and learn what turned Richard Wershe Jr, into WHITE BOY RICK.

  • SERIAL: Robert Pickner - The Pig Farmer Killer

From the late 1970's to the turn of the new century, women consistently went missing in the Downtown East Side area of Vancouver, or DTES. Known as Vancouver's Skid Row, DTES boasts North America's highest rates of STDs, and sex workers as young as eleven years old. But those aren't the only atrocities to haunt the area. Wild haired, foul smelling Robert "Willy" Pickton came with a troubled past and a desire for murder. As these women were hunted over the years, a group of the sex workers gathered to make the "bad date book" - a tool to warn others of unsavory Johns. But Willy had other plans. Armed with farm equipment, an industrial sized meat grinder, and predatory charm over these vulnerable women, Willy fulfilled his fantasies. Join Andrea Up Late as she talks childhood trauma, Hell's Angels, snuff films, and the insanity of the marginalized state of indigenous women. Oh, by the way...the meat processed at the farm was sold to the townspeople. But what were they eating?

Across the river, Tim Walthall was enjoying the scenery with his telescope...until he witnessed something no one else did. He saw the young woman yanked upright by her hair and drug into the nearby wood line. The most seemingly obvious suspect matched the witness's description, but committed suicide just as police located him to question. Many believe this to be the end of the story; however, is an entirely different man the one responsible? Join Andrea Up Late as she tells the story of Heather Teague, who has never been seen again.
