Those in favor of the initiative say it will put $1,300 (on average) back in the pockets of working families across the Commonwealth, while those who oppose the initiative fear that by reducing the state tax revenue, it would force cuts to local aid and public services and cause teachers, police officers, and firefighters to be laid off.

A Massachusetts ballot question that addresses rent control is making its way towards voters this November. The proposed rent control ballot question would enact the nation’s strictest rent control policy across all of Massachusetts. In the wake of New England's massive snowstorm, there has been pushback from Boston residents about the city's snow removal response. Points of concern are clearing enough space for street parking and sidewalk snow removal, satisfactory enough for individuals with disabilities or strollers. Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn discussed some of the ideas that Boston City Council has produced as a solution moving forward such as purchasing snow melting machines (a similar practice NYC has adopted) and more.
