But if they do make a third one, it can't be about basketball, right? Right? In addition to trying to figure that out, this episode is full of other hot goss about the newest installment in what is turning out to be a very complicated and problematic legacy.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is on HBO Max until August 16th, but it'll definitely go back on there at some point after the theatrical run. This movie is streaming on Funimation both subbed and dubbed, though if you watch the latter I fear for your soul. Do NOT rent it on Vudu for $15 like we did initially, because Vudu has this fun feature where you can't change the audio language so you'll be forced to watch it dubbed into English.

Content Warning: A lot of stylized anime violence, mostly due to swords and stabbing. There is a lot of blood, death, and some images of bloody corpses of a family. A character is shown at the point of cutting off their own head with a sword multiple times in order to escape a dream state.

There's, like, ten whole weddings in this rom-com. Between the two of us I'm not sure we even know that many people in relationships. Still, Maya Erskine and Jack Quaid make for goofy fun in this bougie millennial romp. Complete with graveyard sex. Stick around to hear Temperance's pitch for her highly trademarked new romance movie, which she has dubbed Margo + Kate.

Dogs, mayhem, and madcap fashion crimes! I lied, the dogs are are all CG. The mayhem and fashion crimes are aight though. Facebook taught us that this whole movie is about devil worship or something. You can tune in to our spiritual awakening in this week's episode, all about Cruella!

We watched four movies, but the twist is that we only finished two of them. So this week we're discussing Black Narcissus and Mädchen in Uniform (which we finished) alongside Hyenas and Two Days, One Night (which we did not). Ian had a master plan for his picks and it ran into a few obstacles. Listen and all shall be explained.

Black Narcissus (1947) is on HBO Max. Mädchen in Uniform (1931) is free on YouTube with good captions and okay-enough image quality. Hyenas (1992) is on Kanopy with certain subscriptions. We rented Two Days, One Night (2014) from Vudu for three bucks.

Content Warning: Black Narcissus has white actors playing three of the four main South Asian roles, which is deplorable. Some racist viewpoints from the characters and mild violence, including one death by falling. Mädchen in Uniform has a scene where a character is going to attempt self-harm by jumping, which does not happen. The half of Hyenas that we saw deals with poverty, and discusses forced castration and murder.

DIAMONDS ON MY WRIST SO HE CALL ME ICE CREAM. Man, what a banger. This week we talk about Fighting Type movies, specifically Mortal Kombat, Dragonball Evolution, and Kung Fu Hustle. Punch punch kick.

We rented all three of these from Reel Hollywood Video in McMinnville, Oregon! Kung Fu Hustle is on Netflix. All three are available for rental on Vudu for the same price as on Amazon. So, you know.

Full disclosure: this week kicked our butts and we debated not even recording an episode. The good news is that we did it and had a lot of fun with it. Thank you guys for continuing to listen in every week. Ian picked this week, and his theme for his three films was "sports movies I'd actually want to watch." We talk a lot about commodification of athletes, but also about how much we like Jonah Hill. There's truly something for everyone here.

High Flying Bird is only available on Netflix. We rented Whip It and Moneyball from Reel Hollywood Video in McMinnville, OR. They're probably streaming somewhere, but rent them from a local shop if you can!

Yeah, this one's a little late. We spent all our energy talking about sharks and then fell asleep, like how an eight year old might. Still, this Wednesday morning we are very excited to present Temperance's first triple pick: Deep Blue Sea x The Shallows x The Meg! Neither of us can stand the thought of sharks, but we very much like shark movies. And also LL Cool J and Blake Lively. Content Warning: I'll be honest, I didn't think about having to do a content warning for three separate films. I recommend using the IMDb Parents' Guide to check each individual film. The general idea is that sharks eat a lot of people, and there is gratuitous blood and dismemberment. Also each one of these films features violence against animals, which we discuss during the episode because it's such a problematic element of the shark movie genre.

We haven’t gotten this meta since The Beaver Trilogy! For our last movie this month Ian picked the 1996 film The Watermelon Woman, which was written and directed by Cheryl Dunye (who also stars!). In this episode Ian goes off yet again about why you should watch De Cierta Manera and Temperance spills the tea on Boy Sleepovers.

We got a seven day free trial for Showtime in order to watch this on Hulu. Hopefully we remember to cancel that before we get billed. It’s also available on Kanopy and Amazon.
