Race season is off to a questionable start. A couple of early season races went off without a hitch, one got canceled, we drew some heat for one we put on, and then... The entire remainder of the race season got called into question. Well, we've got 3 race recaps for you in one episode, including 24 Hours of Pueblo, True Grit 100, and our very own Aged Fella Winter. Enjoy!
On this episode we host Daryl Price, former XC Pro. We talk about what it was like to help build a new sport, racing in the early days, and how technology has driven the sport forward.
It's no big secret that this years OMWR was cancelled by the Colorado Department of Transportation roughly 1 hour into this years event. Some riders understood, others were left with a sense of being left out in the cold with no refund or free entry to the 2021 event. We were fortunate to connect with Josh, the race director for OMWR and get some insight as to what exactly took place between race officials and CDOT, what they're strategy is for 2021, and a reasons for discounts vs. refunds.
We can't thank Josh enough for taking the time to sit with us and clear the air. We hope you enjoy the episode
In this episode we recap the drama surrounding the 2020 Leadville 100 MTB lottery, give some pointers on how to approach and create your own trainging plan when you don't have access to coaches and equipment, and dig into the implications of the UCI getting involved in the gravel racing scene.
In this episode we invited mountain bike skills coach Andy Winohradsky, owner of DirtSmart MTB, over to Base Camp to give us some advice on Clipless Pedals vs. Platform Pedals, Tire Inserts vs. DH Casing tires, and few other trends from within the mountain bike industry.
In the final episode of 2019, we dig into some items that may have turned you off or turned you away from visiting your local bike shop or gym. We tried to have a fun, lighthearted episode to close the year out, we hope you enjoy. Happy New Year!
Y'all, we owe a big apology. We promised a La Ruta recap and you never got one. In our penultimate episode for 2019, Justin gives us an excited recap of his first outing as a UCI pro. We cover his last race of the year, bringing together his 12 races in 12 months goal, and we finally announce our full sponsor list for the 2020 season.
We focus pretty heavily on racing here at No Ride Around, and you can't really have a conversation about racing without bringing up PEDs. We provide some background on the history of drug use in cycling, some of the players that stand out from the rest as the sports most notorious dopers, and scale the conversation down to us normal folks and where we draw the line between supplements and banned substances.
In this episode we dive head first into how to plan your 2020 cycling season. Whether it's simply riding more, traveling more with your bike, doing your first race, or revisiting this years races for better results, we share our strategies for preparing for events that are the better part of a year away. We also get into what our goals are for the upcoming season. Stay tuned through the entire episode for promo codes for special deals for No Ride Around listeners from our sponsors.
