Wallis Lapsley's path to professional soccer wasn't exactly the smoothest. He was lightly recruited out of high school, walked-on at UC Davis and although he was drafted, was cut after his first professional season. But he ultimately ended up with a preseason tryout for the Defiance and has turned that into a solid campaign that continues on Sunday with the organization's first home playoff game.

When Garth Lagerwey first joined the Seattle Sounders ahead of the 2015 season, he was tasked with winning the team's first-ever MLS Cup and competing for Concacaf Champions League titles. He won two of the first and just led the Sounders to the first CCL title in MLS history. He took the time to reflect on what he's accomplished and ahead to what might be in the future.

Few would argue that Garth Lagerwey's eight-season tenure as Seattle Sounders GM has been anything short of highly successful. The trophies and finals and playoff appearances are all material accomplishments. But with him up for re-election and possibly other suitors lining up, now is as good of a time as any to reflect. He spent nearly an hour talking with us about the past eight years and why he's bullish on the future.
