Something I tried recently was becoming vegan in the spirit of Veganuary, and also to see if that would help me feel more in control of binge urges I have been having recently.
There are some pros and some cons, and in this episode, I cover what happened with this short adventure into veganism.

There are some overlapping behaviours and also some key differences between bulimia and binge eating disorder. That doesn't mean either is less severe or damaging than the other, just that they're different.
In this episode, we're looking at the similarities, the differences and the possibility of having both - whether at separate times or even at the same time!

I absolutely 100% get that urge to try and burn off every single calorie and morsel of food or drink that you consumed during your binge.
And that can lead to gruelling or punishing workouts that can keep you on an emotional rollercoaster, and make you feel worse rather than better.
In the episode I am talking about how I use exercise to help me recover from a binge, my go-to exercise of choice, and what I think is the honest answer to the best exercise to do after a binge.

Cheat days or cheat meals are the words that the diet and fitness industry will normally use for planning to binge.
But can cheat days help with binge eating disorder?
By the way, I hate the term "cheat" days or meals - and I explain that in this episode - but that is a separate topic for another episode, so for the purposes of this one I am just going with the flow.
I have seen it floated around that you will be less likely to binge on foods if you have them regularly in your diet and cheat days help you to balance your cravings with following a specific eating plan.
I do think there are some cases in which a cheat day or cheat meal can help, but there is a lot more to it than it being a simple yes or no, and in some cases, it can be dangerous to go down that route.
I share my thoughts and experience on cheat days and binge eating disorder in this episode.

After I was able to eliminate one of the main go-to binge foods from my diet easily, I wanted to test whether a whole foods diet could help me deal with binge eating disorder and help me stop my bingeing.
Here's what happened when I tried out a whole foods diet. It actually did kind of work for me, but there are some things to watch out for, and it's not right for everyone.

Dealing with binge eating disorder is tough on your own, and even tougher if you have tried to reach out to friends and family for support and been shot down or find that they don't have your back.
I've always found it difficult to speak to anyone one to one about my experiences with binge eating disorder (ironic, given I have no problem broadcasting it to the world on this podcast), and I can imagine it is also the same for some of you.
In this episode, I am covering what are, in my own view, the 4 best places to get binge eating disorder support when you aren't getting that from friends or family.

Self-sabotage and binge eating honestly go hand in hand. Yet one of my business coaches - who I trust a hell of a lot - once said self-sabotage doesn't even exist.
It takes a bit of processing to understand what he meant, but it makes sense to me and his approach to looking at self-sabotage has helped me a lot in terms of getting to grips with binge eating.
Here is my breakdown of self sabotage, binge eating, and what I am doing to tackle cravings and urges.

Did you know it's been estimated that around 30% of people diagnosed with binge eating disorder also have a history of ADHD?
The link between ADHD and binge eating disorder isn't something I considered for a while, but there are a few behaviour traits I have found that make the 2 overlap and can make your binge urges much more intense.
Find out more about my experience of dealing with binge eating and ADHD in this episode.

It can be easy to feel because your experience with binge eating is different to an account you read from someone else, that your binge eating disorder is less valid.
This can include how often you binge, what triggers it, and how many calories make up a binge.
That last one especially is one I have had to struggle with as my binges have tended to be a bit smaller than other accounts I've read so I used to try to suppress it and tell myself it's not "that bad".
But to me, it doesn't feel any different or any better than binge eating disorder feels to anyone else going through it.
Here are my thoughts on how many calories make up a binge and why it doesn't matter.

I guess I have been a little bit "lucky" (for lack of a better word) that my binges from binge eating disorder haven't come directly from mindless eating.
But I have noticed a couple of mindless eating behaviour patterns which have left me more conditions to being prone to binges.
Here are the issues I have had with mindless eating, how I am working on them, and also my 5 tips to stop mindless eating.
