Teams are throwing around money at players that just don’t make sense. 36-year old Chris Paul got $120M from the Phoenix Suns. There’s no way that contract will come back to bite them. Lonzo Ball got $85M, Duncan Robinson and Jimmy Butler and Kyle Lowry got big money from the Miami Heat. Why is this happening? (14:50) Olympics update! Simone Biles returned to competition and earned a Bronze medal in the Balance Beam. Team USA Men’s basketball beat Spain. Kevin Durant led the way. (19:00) The Boston Red Sox have a little issue. Why didn’t the Red Sox make any moves? Was it a mistake? They’re now 4 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays. What the hell happened? Why did the Mets promise so much money and not follow through? Did the Mets know about his elbow? Did Scott Boras mess this up? Rodgers very much dislikes what the team has done. Rodgers very much dislikes the GM, the president, the coach, the drafting, the coffee, the popcorn, the protein shakes, the gatorade selection — everything, basically. So now what happens? Does Rodgers retire or come get paid? (14:10) NFL coaches are walking away from the league because they don’t want to get vaccinated. A Patriots coach and a Vikings coach have both left over this. Today’s word of the day is ‘Coca has COVID’ as in exactly that. He’s vaccinated, but still got it. The vaccine did work though because he’s able to function and able to work. 

The real word of the day is ‘50K’ as in that’s what Deshaun Watson would have been fined each day by the Houston Texans had he not shown up for training camp. Watson is there now and trade talks are booming. The NFL chose not to put him on the Commissioner’s Exempt List. (8:45) The San Diego Padres are very active during the trade deadline. Big move made this weekend in acquiring All Star Adam Frazier from the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates continue to fall deeper and deeper into the void. Not only will they lose the game, but they’ll also be responsible for any financial fallout. This is the NFL’s way of saying get vaccinated and some players are NOT happy about this. Cruz was traded from the Twins to the Rays for two pitching prospects. (25:45) Anthropocene: The Human Epoch. He talked about his regrets with the Dallas Cowboys and about what he would do for a the team to win another Super Bowl. This was a different kind of Jerry Jones.
