Today’s word of the day is ‘we’re back’ as in All Star Break is over and regular season baseball is back as in I’m back at home (for today) as in post-all star break news is here. We’ll have trades. We’ll have teams fall apart. We’ll have teams make runs. We’ll find out what the Baltimore Orioles are made of by mid-August. Their schedule is a gauntlet! (19:30) Northwestern has fired its baseball coach after one season. Two days after firing its football coach for the same hostile work environment. (33:10) Review: Asteroid City. (38:00) Is ESPN for sale? Maybe. Maybe not. (43:50) Rory McIlroy is so against LIV Golf it’s admirable. Any chance he gets to poo poo it he will.

Today’s word of the day is ‘shine’ as in bright as in focused as in MLB All-Star Game was here and it was great… kind of. What happened? What were the story lines? Are the jerseys as bad as we think they are? (16:40) Rob Manfred met with the media during the All-Star Game. He talked expansion. He talked about fans. He talked about the rule changes. And of course, the Oakland Athletics. Oakland mayor Sheng Thao travelled to Seattle to meet with Rob Manfred. And then she sat down with Ken Rosenthal to tell all. (33:10) Review: Beau is Afraid. What is going to happen? (18:20) The Yankees have fired their hitting coach and hired a new one. Same old story. What did Brian Cashman want done differently now?
