– Actually, I'd prefer it closed. 其实，我想关着窗子。（actually 其实，说实话，实际上（用于礼貌地表示反对、纠正他人或拒绝他人提议等））
– I'm sorry, but I'm cold. 不好意思，我有点儿冷。

Can we sit here?
– Sorry, the seat's taken. 抱歉，座位有人了。
– I'm sorry, but you can't. Someone else is sitting here. 抱歉，（你们）不能（坐这）。有人坐这了。

表示询问时常用到can的情况：

- 要某个东西/询问某个事物（to ask for something）

- 询问我们能否做某事（请求允许或同意）（to ask to do something）

- 请别人为我们某事（to ask other people to do things for us）

当请别人做什么时，常在后面加上 please，表示客气与礼貌：

Can you get me the menu, please? 

请把菜单给我好吗？

Can you tell me the time, please? 

请告诉我时间好吗？

one 和 ones

One 和 ones 可以作为代词来代替名词，代替前面提过的人事物。

A: How much is that bag?

B: The green one? It's £50.

A: 那个包多少钱？

B: 绿色的那个？50英镑。

A: How much are those oranges?

B: The Spanish ones? They're £2 a kilo.

A: 那些橙子多少钱？

B: 西班牙的那些？每公斤2英镑。

可以在 one 和 ones 前面使用定冠词the：

I'd like the green one.

我想要绿色的。

I'd like the Spanish ones.

我想要西班牙的。

如果有形容词，也可以使用不定冠词a或an：

I'd like a small/big one.

我想要一个小/大的。

X I'd like a/an one

如果想说“你的那个/些”“我的那个/些”“他的那个/些”……会用物主代词代替：

much + 不可数名词

many + 复数可数名词

a lot of 和 lots of + 可数名词/不可数名词

I don't have much money. 我没有多少钱。

She doesn't have many friends. 她没有很多朋友。

She has a lot of money / friends. 她有很多钱/朋友。

肯定句

正式的语境中，使用 much 和 many；

日常（非正式、随意）语境中，使用 a lot of 或 lots of。

我去购物，花了很多钱。

I went shopping and spent a lot of money. 

不说 I went shopping and spent much money.

He had heard many stories about Yanto.

他听说了很多关于Yanto的故事。

否定句

三个都可以用。

I don't have much / a lot of money.

I don't have much / a lot of time.

She doesn't have many / a lot of friends.

疑问句

正式的语境，使用 much；

日常（非正式、随意）使用 many，a lot of 或 lots of。

Does he have many / a lot of friends?

他有很多朋友吗？

Is there much unemployment in that area?

那个地区失业率高吗？（unemployment 失业，失业人口，失业率）

总之，日常口语、非正式情景，使用 a lot of 和 lots of 不太会出问题，两者几乎一样（lots of 比 a lot of 更随意一些）。

后面跟复数（可数）或不可数名词

all shirts 所有衬衫
all information 全部信息

all of + 指示词（this/these/that/those）或物主形容词（my/your/his/her/our...）+ 名词

all (of) these shirts 所有这些衬衫
All (of) these shirts are beautiful. 所有这些衬衫都很好看。

all (of) his shirts 他所有的衬衫
All (of) his shirts are hand-made. 他所有的衬衫都是手工做的。

Both、several的用法和all一样，后面直接跟复数或不可数名词，也可以 + of + 指示词/物主形容词 + 名词。

both 两个，两者，双方（都）
Both shirts are beautiful. 两件衬衫都好看。
Both of those hats suit you. 那两顶帽子都适合你。（suit 适合，与……相配）

several 一些，几个
They have several white shirts in that shop. 那家商店里有一些白衬衫。
They have several of those shirts that you like. 他们有一些你喜欢的衬衫。

限定词 determiner(s)
determine 动词，确定，决定，下决心
后缀-er （加在某些动词后构成名词）做……的人，用于……的物

each, every, either
each （两个或两个以上人或物之中）每个，各
every （三个或三个以上的人或物之中）每个，每一个，全部，整体
either （两者中）任何一个，（两种选择）或者…或者…，不是…就是…，要么…要么…

Each pair of shoes is hand-made. 
每双鞋都是手工制作的。[有两双或以上的鞋，强调个体，每一双都是]
Every shoe shop in this town is expensive. 
这个镇上的每一家鞋店都很贵。[有三家或以上的鞋店，强调整体，所有鞋店都很贵]
Personally, I don't like either jacket. 
就我个人而言，两件夹克我都不喜欢。[两件中任何一件]
personally 就个人而言，在我个人看来（person人+后缀-al与…有关的—>personal个人的，私人的+后缀-ly—>personally ）

Each，every，either 后面都是跟单数名词！
Each dress is beautiful. 每件衣服都很漂亮。[有两件或以上，强调每一件都好看]
Every dress is beautiful. 每件衣服都很漂亮。[有三件或以上，强调所有都好看]
Either dress is beautiful. 两件衣服都很漂亮。[只有两件]

指示词 demonstrative(s)

demonstrate 动词，显示，表明，表现，表达
词尾-ive/-tive（加在动词后构成形容词）有……作用的，有……性质的

demonstrative 形容词，（语法）指示性的；感情外露的
名词，（语法）指示词

英语中的指示词只有四个：this（这个）, that（那个）, these（这些）, those（那些）
指离我们较近的事物，单数和不可数名词用 this，复数名词用 these。
指离我们较远的事物，单数和不可数名词用 that，复数名词用 those。

Short answer（简短回答）

Yes, there is. / No, there isn't.

Yes, there are. / No, there aren't.

来造句~

桌子上有（一）本书吗？

—> Is there a book on the desk?

回答：Yes, there is. / No, there isn't.

有时间去购物吗？

有（一些）时间做…… There is some time to do...

去购物 go shopping

—> Is there any time to go shopping?

回答：Yes, there is. / No, there isn't.

教室里有学生吗？

—> Are there any students in the classroom?

回答：Yes, there are. / No, there aren't.

Negative form（否定形式）和 any 的使用

There is 和 there are 变否定句“没有……”有两种方法：

第一种方法：在there is和there are后面用not，口语常说成 there isn't 和 there aren't

There is a television in the living room. 
变否定句 —>
There isn't a television in the living room. 客厅里没有电视。

There is some milk in the fridge. 
变否定句 —>
There isn't any milk in the fridge. 冰箱里没有牛奶。

There are some people in the office. 
变否定句 —>
There aren't any people in the office. 办公室里没有人。

注意：单数（可数）名词不用any！

第二种方法：在there is和there are后面用 no

There is no television in the living room. 客厅里没有电视。

There is no milk in the fridge. 冰箱里没有牛奶。
There are no people in the office. 办公室里没有人。

第一种否定形式更常用，即：

单数（可数）名词变否定句用 there isn't a...
不可数名词变否定句用 there isn't any...
复数（可数）名词变否定句用 there aren't any...
